No injuries and just a minor skid on the taxiway, should be back in service later today.

Off the taxiway. No injuries and passengers were transported back to the terminal by bus.

There's freezing rain and ice in Baltimore today. Must have hit a patch of ice on the taxi way and slid off.

Just curious, when a minor incident like this happens, how long are the pilots grounded
if at all?

Didn't they say everything was treated and that temperature at the time of the incident was 37? One article also mentions "visible skid marks" from the nose gear.

Could the nose wheel have started to skid and a tiller over-reaction got the wheel going essentially sideways with the plane continuing on?

Why was it evacuated? I guess given its position they couldn't get a tug in front of it?

I dunno... this photo makes it look like it started down the embankment.

IS that part of the fuselage on the ground? If so, she's not going anywhere for a bit.

Interesting track shown in FR24:

It looks like N8523W has been rescheduled to fly to RSW tomorrow. We'll see if it goes.

The southwest official said it stayed on the taxiway. Doesn’t look like it.

Maybe part of it is technically on the taxiway, it's hard to tell.

Not according to the reports.

"Southwest Airlines flight 906, a Boeing 737 bound for Montego Bay, slid sideways while preparing for departure, the Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement. The aircraft remained on the taxiway and will be towed to the gate.

The plane remained on the taxiway until 12:15 p.m., when crews began the 15-minute process of towing it back to the terminal.

BWI officials say that as the aircraft was taxiing out, it turned and stopped near the taxiway pavement edge, where it remains. It didn't go off the taxiway at any point,"

I wonder if they used a tug to pull it out, or did Joe Patroni just “go for broke” and slam the throttles wide open?

From official BWI twitter Account;

#BWI is now working with airline personnel to tow aircraft that was stopped on taxiway pavement....(this was completed hours ago).

In a follow up tweet they state the aircraft was not in the dirt.

There are plenty of photos confirming these statements in the following article.

Those pics do show it still on the pavement, but barely. Looks like maybe the edge of the grass stopped it.

So why couldn’t it reverse thrust and back itself out if a tug can’t go on grass?

Reverse is not approved on the 737 in that situation
