Farnborough International Airshow 2018

I was wondering if somebody might have heard some rumors about which planes will participate at Farnborough 2018.

I just bought a ticket for “Fab Friday”

Lesson learned from my recent airshows is to ignore the halls and go straight to the Apron. Hopefully this year will be like what I missed last time: planes displayed during the week (only) leaving on Friday morning. Missed the 737 max last time. Grrr.

I bought some tickets for the 2018 "FAB Friday Runway Package" also... and then realized I may not be able to go.

Since I'm not based in the UK I can't resell them on the official site (no UK debit card) ... any suggestions on reputable alternate sites to resell?

I am thinking about making a trip to Farnborough for the first time. I am interested in seeing the static displays of airliners vs. the aerial show aspect. Is it worth the trek across the pond and if so, are some days better than others? I noticed they have a Fab Friday ticket which was mentioned in a post above which allows access to the exhibitions.

Also, is there usually some type of A.net meetup there?

I’m going on Friday. My lesson learned from last time is to eschew the halls and go straight to the apron early to watch (hopefully) planes displaying during the week, leave (before the weekend). I missed the 737 Max last time due to this error.

The family and I were thinking about going to Farnborough this year. The weekend flying lineup is not impressive though. The large civil jets only display during the week?

The large civil jets will most likely be gone before the public weekend, apart from possibly the A380.

I believe we just had an indication that they are shooting for offering it to airlines in 1Q19.

There are several articles out there nudging Boeing that launching it even tomorrow will be cutting it close. Launching a year from now makes this project a fantasy.

Cutting it close to what? There are no set dates for anything yet. The latest I saw was talking about authority to offer in 1Q 2019. I figure that gives them the right amount of time to collect some launch orders for Paris 2019.

While this date could be perhaps brought forward, given the amount of advanced design work that may already have been done, an in-service date of 2025 seems optimistic.

Idk... they put an announce in late 2018 as a late shipment. An early 2019 announce is just giving in completely.

I guess it can go either way depending on how far along they are internally. But sooner is better than later.

I mean, I guess sooner would be better (all things being equal), but new airplane programs are decades long. If one year makes all the difference, then you probably shouldn't be going ahead anyway. Much more important to get it right than to meet some arbitrary deadline.
