Let this post be a respectful Adieu to the A330-200 and its robust ~700 frame production.

Prognostications:
There are replacement prospects for the A332MRTT and A332P2MRTT; Turkish, Indian, Canadian, & Chilean AirForce's; x < 20
- Air Transat might consider AirTanker's object lesson.
The A330F will flounder until a major freight carrier orders a neo variant. Second tier freight carriers will follow suit with A333P2Fs.
Experiencing buyers remorse; Etihad,Qatar,Malayasia,HK will sale or lease return a number of their A332Fs. Once absorbed, the A332P2F will see sporadic activity.
Fleet planners should consider the possibility of purchasing prospective A333 HNA ntus.

Thanks for this very helpful post. The end is close for one of the Airbus great successes.
I have had difficulty tying up the IAG orders with their plans for LEVEL. Is there another frame to be delivered which hasn’t made the orderbook yet ?

thanks for asking Geoff,

With June's delivery to Level and ~July's upcoming delivery to Iberia, the spreadsheet tie's out to Airbus's May O&D sheet for the passenger frames. Zero additional orders to be scheduled for IAG, LEVEL, Iberia
1882 Airbus A330-202 Iberia On Order
1877 Airbus A330-202 LEVEL 25. Jun 2018 Active
1864 Airbus A330-202 LEVEL 25. May 2018 Active
1854 Airbus A330-202 Iberia 16. Mar 2018 Active

1882 for Iberia may be the last factory built passenger A330-200

Now that is fascinating. Thank you for the information. With the increase in range of the A333, 787, and A350, the A332 has lost its niche.

Lightsaber

Late edit, I see from Wikipedia that A332 deliveries remained high until 2013 and have been on a downward trend since then. With the A333 range improvement, there was a definitive shift. Last year (2017), there was only about a quarter of A330s delivered the A330 (versus at the peak 2/3rds of A330 deliveries).

Late added question: Does that mean Wikipedia is wrong on the A332 backlog? Have they been converted? Cancelled?
When I look at the backlog I see:
1. Private jets (which actually makes sense for end of line orders)
2. Iran Air (ugh oh..., cut the backlog by 8)
3. Jet Airways (I doubt they will accept and will come to an accomodation so cut the backlog by another 5 or up to 13 removed)
4. IAG (but you covered that).
5. Undisclosed/HiFly. When is HiFly's last? I would suspect their buy at discount model would allow delivery?

Lightsaber

The two HiFly frames are MSNs 1872 and 1878 for Nepal.

Isn’t Level getting 3 more A332s to reach their planned 7 strong fleet? Either they have to get 3 more from Airbus (via the IB order) or will they take the last used, from IB?

You are correct Geoff. Airbus's June O&D spreadsheet is posting an order for two A330-200's on 2018Jun21.
Further, there appears to be an aspiration for a total of 15 by 2022?

Does this tie out with your understanding?

interesting that they are not making bids for any of the six available used A330-200's with GE engines, at least two of which are for sale; ln 700 & 472.

Some of the new ones should be sent back to IB, desperately short in fleet and still suffering the "Level" experiment.

MSN 1777 EC-MOU and MSN 1784 EC-MOY are based at BCN. MSN 1864 F-HLVL is based At ORY. MSN 1877 was delivered on June 25th, as EC-MYA. Currently is in MAD and will be based in BCN. MSN 1882 will be based in ORY and also as someone mentioned in another post, IAG ordered 2 more A330-200 that will go to BCN and ORY bases, reaching a total of 7 A330 in 2019.

Those who wonder why China's airlines are not ordering the A330Neo should check this thread out - they have ordered the end of the line CEOs!

Let's list the remaining A330 CEO orders (Nov. O&D file). There are only 68 A330s to be delivered. The end it's a bit odd.
A330-200: [32x]
Airbus Conversion: 17x
Iran Air: 8x (unlikely to be delivered)
JET Airways: 5x (unlikely deliveries ?)
IAG: 1x
Iberia: 1x

A330-200F [4x] (Most likely not delivered)
MNG Airlines 3x
Synergy Aerospace Corporation 1x

A330-300 [32x]
UFO (Undiscloses) 11x
CASC 10x
HongKong Airlines 9x
HongKong Aviation Capital 2x
Egypt Air 1x
Scandinavian Airlines 1x
Financial institutions -2x
(Total orders = 34, backlog: 787-755= 32. Only A330-300 two deliveries to F.I. explain the difference.)

Essentially only 19 A332 and 23 A333 (minus UFO 11) left to be delivered. A330 family has a good run and continues to live on as A330neo.
