I recently went on a q200, and they are looking old on the inside, and could benefit from new gen seats, interior (and some TLC in general).

Was highlighted in qf789 post

Thank you for this! Not sure how I missed this.
Nice to see that Qantas is putting some love into their regional fleet.

With the new generation seats being installed, will the weight reductions have any benefits for the q200 for flights such as SYD - LDH, or would this be negligible?

The first of 2 A320's (taken from Jetstar) used for FIFO operations, has been painted in the new Qantaslink livery (VH-VQS).

@qf789 - I guess you can add this a/c to your list.

Correct. No mention has been made of the news on this thread. I only found out today when I stumbled upon this article.
Need to make sure everyone is aware/ updated

In addition, the second A320 is to be VH-VQU (to enter service from April 2018).

Weird that. It was mentioned at the time in the general AusAv thread and also the specific QF A320 thread, but can't hurt to cover all the bases :)

I'd say the Twitter poster just assumed paint.

Always needed to position one aircraft anyway. Could just swap OQD with I'd guess OQA or OQB (being oldest paint, highest hours I'd guess) into the paint shop without schedule disruption.

After 25-Mar will need to position to LHR or SIN for a swap.

-OQA has the least hours considering aircraft was AOG nearly 18 months due to the QF32 incident.

The 'blank'/white Q300 VH-SBW is in TSV paint shop. This aircraft was kept white as it was utilized by QF AND JQ(NZ) when needed, by either airline. I'm guessing it wont be repainted white again, so there's a 50/50 chance it will become a 'new roo'. Time will tell :)

I’ve seen this white canvas flying around for a while. Interesting to see what colours rolls out. Probably a retro mix QF/JQ colourscheme :D

Interesting. Not the oldest paint.
Does this mean heavy mx is moving from MNL to DXB? or a one of like the landing gear change?

Certainly not the oldest of the 12 but still exciting to finally see it happen. My understanding DXB is better fit for MX & repaint opposed to MNL. I’m not sure if this means all MX will be shifted to DXB with the contract stating 8 A380’s.
In relation to the landing gear believe it was a manufacture requirement not necessarily a landing gear fault with -OQD. Airbus have performed similar tasks on SQ & EK A380 aircraft more so to do with maintenance & inspection requirements.

Was thinking. (i do that sometimes lol), should add the 'new'(ex-JQ) QantasLink A320s to the 'new roo' list. VH-VQS complete and VQU curremtly in XSP presumed to become a 'new roo' :) Will be based in WA for FIFO/charter ops. I wont ramble on, there's easy to find info into the 'why are they doing this?' on the internet thingy. Just type in a few words :)

Reading too much into it ;) Didn’t want repeat of -OQD until -OQF was confirmed.
Wish there was a special livery, even Oneworld would be nice.

"Normally" airlines introduce a new livery on its flagship aircraft. Not so Qantas!
With the first A380 to be painted this month it took an extraordinarily long time before QF put one of its VLAs into the hangar to receive the new paint.
Leaves me to ask when is the first 744ER due?

The A380 has been quite heavily used up till now, with PER-LHR starting the A380's will be flying less. I would imagine the 744ER's would be painted probably next year prior to the non 747ER's leaving the fleet. The non 747ER's had been due to be retired this year but QF have decided to keep them another year

Same can be said for quite a few airlines, e.g. Lufthansa and Japan Airlines.

Qantas' normal A380 schedule requires 10.5-11 of the 12 aircraft it has, that's excluding the one a/c for maintenance. For a period of time during the last few years (normally Christmas/NY period) QF scheduled all 12 A380s into service. One just couldn't spare a frame for repaint with that flying program. This continues till the upcoming Saturday (24 Mar) when QF9/10 is replaced by 789 via PER.

Was introduced with the shiny new toy aka 787. Much like the A380 launched the 2007 livery.

Once the PER-LHR hoopla is over I suspect focus will go back to the 380s in late 2018/2019 as they begin the refurb process
(Hopefully with some additional announcements re F - they surely can't leave the product unchanged)

Before again shifting to whatever is selected for the ULR aircraft.

The livery was launched almost a year before the first 787 was delivered and the first aircraft painted was an A330.

2007 was the same, livery introduced almost a year before the first A380 was delivered and first displayed on a 767 from memory.

Will look great. Always loved how the red tail incorporates the back end of the fuselage so the roo covers much more area. The A380 roo is a big bugger! Hopefully they put inboard winglet mini roos as well :)

2016 livery updates:
B738
VH-VZB entered back into service this morning as QFA969 TSV-BNE after being repainted into the 2016 livery.
VH-VZE replaced VZB in TSV for repainting.
DH8C
VH-SBW (albino) has been on the ground at TSV for 5 days - will be interesting to see what livery it comes out with.
DH8D
VH-QOI entered back into service on 22/3 after being painted in the 2016 livery in TSV.

B738 WiFi Updates
VH-VYB confirmed with WiFi
VH-VZU has been on the ground at SYD since 16/3 and is likely being Wifi equipped.
