Interesting - are EBO-EBV fitted with iPads or PTVs?

Interesting that EBM and EBN aren’t going to int config as they will be the only 2 Domestic config with PTV.

Anyone know why OQG has been out of service at SYD for over 3 weeks? Maintenance for this type is done in MNL.

I don't suppose the 332s will be repainted while they're being reconfig'd

If history is an indication, reconfig will be done in BNE and repaint in SIN, so no.

I thought QF was planning to keep the 744ER'S a while longer. What will the average age of 744ER fleet in 2020? Any chance they might find homes with other carriers? Perhaps wishful thinking BA as a short term replacement for older 744'S?

I thought QF was planning to keep the 744ER'S a while longer. What will the average age of 744ER fleet in 2020? Any chance they might find homes with other carriers? Perhaps wishful thinking BA as a short term replacement for older 744'S?

The average age of the ER's in 2020 will be almost 17.5 years old, but the youngest one would still be 17 years old. There is a possibility they could go to a freighter carrier and become converted, but BA probably wouldn't take them, their fleet are all RR powered and having a small subfleet of ER's probably would be too expensive to maintain.

Will this mean the loss of any seats for EBO-EBV? Or will it remain as 28/243? Are they increasing galley space for longer haul flights?

Read somewhere (I think airlineroute) that these birds are going 27/238 but I could be wrong. I'm pretty sure on C27 seatcount but couldn't remember how many that are losing for Y.

28J/243Y is the standard configure. 27J/238Y are tech and cabin rest facilities activated (curtain).

RE the A332 'rejiigs' of VH-EBO/P/Q/R/S/V. J/C will physically lose 1 J/C seat. The actual seat count will be 27J. various Google searches confirms this :) 1 J/C loo added, galley space increased/rejigged. Also Y/C will lose some seats. I dont know how many, as there are various numbers floating around on the interweb. Some suggest as many as 12 Y/C seats will be lost, So maybe the galley/loo increases in J/C will also impact Y/C. Also there will be 4 dedicated cabin crew rest seats in Y/C which will have increased legroom (as per A333 cabin crew rest seats).
So I guess all will be confirmed/revealed when the first 'rejig' enters service...hotly tipped to be -EBS around end June/early July :)

Wasn’t aware of any permanent seating configure changes so thanks for sharing.

12 aircraft will be referred to as A330-200D & will be completed by mid-2019. The six aircraft reconfigured for International flying will be referred to as A330-200L with EBS the first aircraft to be reconfigured and will re-enter service in late-June.

Will the A332L receive the same seats/IFE in Economy Class seats as the A333s?

I would like to think so as the current Economy Class on the A332s is very dated. It’s adequate for domestic/Tasman flights but not competitive with SQ/CX or even the likes of VN on flights to Asia.

Does this open these aircraft up for more Asian flying? Combined with the 744 taking over HNL later in the year?

Yep, will make them able to operate longer sectors where workforce contracts and regulations require segregated tech crew rest (as opposed to just a curtained-off J seat). PEK, TYO, probably HKG and PVG.

They’re already flying a lot of Asian flights with 332s. CGK and PEK (old config) plus a fair few SIN flights are flown by A332s. QF37/38 is a 332 more often than not and I’ve seen them on 35/36, 51/52 and 81/82 at various times as well. The reconfig standardises the fleet and means that the “domestic” frames can go further than CGK/SIN, more than any significant plans to increase Asia flying.

OQG arrived in DXB last night for painting.

OQI has been out of service for a couple of weeks at SYD. Similar pattern to OQG prior to repainting so maybe OQI is next to be painted?

Only 4 more to go in this batch of 380 paints, after OQG. (OQF, OQK, OQL done so far)

Is somewhat strange that it appears to be the younger ones being repainted first in DXB.
Would appear the 8 will be OQE-OQL

I can only think this is because the oldest 4 will be the first to be refitted internally by Airbus and probably painted at the same time.

The config for the new A330-200L will be 27J 224Y (a loss of 15Y seats when operating in a long-haul configuration). It's already showing up in the GDS if you look up the seat maps for QF107/108 (SYD-PEK-SYD) in October 2018 on certain days.

I’m not familiar- why the lose of those seats? Due to extra galley space for the rear galley? Or a bigger galley at door two, shifting back the business class cabin further rearwards?

Crew rest plus toilet IIRC (stand corrected). I believe Y and C each get an additional toilet.

Sorry I was more curious where they specifically were being lost from. No new LOPA loaded but a quick comparison shows-

300s have a toilet at 1L, and a toilet a 2R.
EBG/EBL- have toilets at 1L and 1R
200s - one toilet at 1L

300s and EBG/EBL also appears to have a bigger Galley at door 2. So assume the 200L will
Mirror EBG/EBL toilet and galley layout.

The crew rest on the 330 is a set of bunks between the flight deck and the forward galley?

They are removing row 1 in J (which is just the centre pair) to make way for a larger forward galley and pilot rest area, and 5K to make way for a second toilet ahead of the R2 door. There will then be an extra two seats in the second J cabin making 2 full rows of 4.

In Y they are doing some rearranging but effectively losing 16 seats in the forward cabin and 3 in the rear (the last centre set at the very back of the aircraft). I’m not sure what is happening with the toilets in Y but I do know that the rear galley will be larger than it is now.

Crew rest seats have not yet been blocked in the GDS - 27J/224Y is the short haul configuration while the long haul will be 27J/220Y.
