The winter schedule is a work in progress - especially for the 772/77L fleet. Mostly because they will probably all go through Delta Suites installations during that period. As of today, only MSP-HND and SEA-HKG are scheduled on the 772 during that time so it obviously doesn't work. There will be a lot of swaps with 77L routes as those go through maintenance. I'm sure DL will want to sequence through priority the routes it puts the 777 Delta Suites planes on and that will lead to the rest to eventually fall into place.

I am seeing LAX-HND, JFK-TLV, JFK-CDG and the alternating LAX-AMS/CDG as the scheduled 242 tonne A330-300 flights for the end of October 2018-end of March 2019 schedule. That needs six aircraft out of the ten 242 tonne A330-300s in the fleet. The 777 mods should be in full gear during this period as you stated the only scheduled flights are SEA-HKG and MSP-HND, needing just four aircraft. The only scheduled 77L flights are ATL-JNB/PVG/NRT and the ATL-LAX-SYD rotation. That needs just seven aircraft. Assuming a spare in ATL, Delta can go through two 77L in mods with the fall/winter schedule. Previous reliable DL employees have indicated the 777-200ERs will be going through the mod lines first, interesting choice as the 77L had their interiors factory installed when they delivered and the 777-200ERs had their interiors modded with the 77L product. Probably maintenance related as the first 777 in mods right now is also getting a heavy check along with the new interior. In terms of aircraft swaps, the only route I anticipate the 777-200ERs filling in the for 77L fleet is ATL-NRT. Its only a loss of one aircraft per the schedule as ATL-NRT feeds off ATL-JNB, requiring three aircraft for ATL-JNB-ATL-NRT-ATL. I'm going to off on a limb and say Delta will finish up the 777 mods by the end of March 2019 and the 767-400ERs will begin at that time as well. Oh yeah and SEA-HKG appears to operating just five times a week during the fall/winter schedule.

Located in MCO I enjoy this thread and the constant updates, but is it just me, its just not the same anymore without the 744. I feel like its lost its punch missing where the 744 would charter off too..

I saw N1604R leave from Concourse B and head that way (pretty impressive watching it climb away while empty too). I looked and after that, it was going to Paris. Why on earth would you ferry both these aircraft empty and trade places? It looks like N174DZ arrived from Paris to Cincinnati before ferrying to ATL, and went down to Santiago late last night. Seems like a waste of time and money.

Cost and logistics. I'm certain DL tried to replace the scheduled 738, but if CVG didn't have any spare aircraft and/or crews, it would've had to ferry the aircraft anyway. And it's cheaper to operate a ferry flight than a live flight, so if DL didn't need the capacity, it's a more sensible option.

I understand that part of it, but I mean why switch a high-J 767-300 for another high-J 767-300? Why not fly N174DZ back to Paris and N1604R to Santiago instead of ferrying them both and trading places?

It sucks tbh. If you ever come to ATL we have the 747 museum at the Delta Museum. Cost $15 for the museum but they offer half off when just 747 museum is open along with the shops.

That is usually an airframe maintenance issue, for which there are a ton of different reasons. Think MEL items maybe affecting ETOPS, available time or cycles before the next inspection and where that will be, an entry slot for the Z mod, etc. They just saw a reason to change up the rotations.

I wonder why N1613B ferried from SEA>SFO>SEA yesterday, and stayed less than 90 mins on the ground at SFO? Anyone?

This threat has seriously redeemed a.net for me, so thanks everyone for such informative posts. I love watching how the operation accommodates all sorts of irregularities, from crew availability to maintenance to weather, etc. This thread gives you the big picture, which is much harder to get if you are tracking individual aircraft. I can see, for example, that the A333 did a Seattle turn out of Paris on April 5th, while the 777 did an MSP turn instead of the usual routing through SEA to HKG (perhaps for maintenance?). It would take forever to collect all of that information on an individual aircraft basis. Thanks everyone for the work!

I don't think that N174DN operated the ATL>TLS>ATL charter flight shown above, as both FlightAware and FR24 show it operated a regular scheduled flight from ATL>SCL that same night, after the ferry flight from BOS>ATL! So which one operated the charter flight?

Thanks. It appears the A350 line has slowed a little over the past month. Delta was supposed to receive the plane March 31. Looks like they won't receive the tenth A350-900 until late next month. Not to worry though. Delta will need 11 to operate DTW-AMS/NRT/ICN/PEK/PVG, ATL-ICN, and LAX-PVG.

After the 9th frame arrives, how many more are coming this year? Is it just two more this summer, or are there additional frames coming later in the year?

Another next month, probably towards the end, and the final one scheduled for the year probably around the end of June. Just two are scheduled for delivery next year and will be delivered in the first quarter.

Trying to find some domestic widebody flights, but don't see much except transcons. Are any of these
"aircraft activities" planned in advance and shown in Delta.com schedules or are they all last minute/
day of substitutions? Would love to catch a ride on some of these! Thank you!

There are both scheduled and unscheduled widebody domestic swaps. I try to identify them in the notes when available. Scheduled wise over the next few weeks there is the following scheduled swaps SEA-JFK (4/16-763), ATL-DTW (5/3-76W), DTW-ATL (4/16-332), ATL-LAX (4/17-764), JFK-ATL (5/1-764), MSP-SEA (5/4 & 5/10-772) and DTW-ATL (4/19-77L).

Thanks very much! Any swaps you're aware of on or after 25MAY? Love knowing these...especially for SEA or PDX!
I assume I can't look up this info online? Trying to plan a trip on a 767 or 777 end of May or June!

Why don't you try to do some random bookings on DL.com and see what aircraft show up as flying on those days, particularly on similar routes as "hkcanadaexpat" has provided? Seems like the obvious thing to do here!

It sucks tbh. If you ever come to ATL we have the 747 museum at the Delta Museum. Cost $15 for the museum but they offer half off when just 747 museum is open along with the shops.

Thanks....I have been to that museum several times as it is one of the best in the world...I look forward to the fall collectors show in October 2018 as well as Airliners International 3 day show in summer 2019 at the museum!

So much for putting the whole marching band as well as the alumni club on a single chartered 747-400 like in the past with Delta. I guess universities will have to charter two planes when going to the big games. Which will probably cost more. I mean, is there really zero demand for a 450+ passenger plane with almost unlimited cargo, even if only a few of them, at a massive airline like Delta?

Those bands onnly come marching maybe a few times a year. Not enough to justify the expense of such a large a/c. Delta would need to utilize that size of a/c year round to justify acquisition.

Is there a count for the 76L to 76Zs? Sounds like the mods are going through rather quickly. Not sure if the mods deserve its own thread.

Well the obvious thread to follow the mods, besides here, would be the 'Delta Aircraft Refurbishment 2018" if someone could provide the list of those birds which have already been modded. Perhaps "n515cr" could help if he reads this!

Thanks for the list. So is the plan to still convert 14 birds total from 76L to 76Z then? I would assume that N169DZ, N172DZ, N174DZ, will be included, with perhaps N1200K, N1201P and the rest out of the 16** fleet #s?

Usually the easiest way to find the reg # is by typing the flight # on FR24 (not on FlightAware!) However FR24 says it was N822NW, whereas FlightAware says it was N806NW. Why the discrepancy?

Yeah.... Most likely can't trust FlightAware for everything lol. Rookie mistake and lesson learned lol. XD
