I agree that is a welcome change to the UA livery. I’m glad they are using the 787 livery on the MAX. :-)

I also like the new wavy livery of UA introduced ln their 787. On the MAX it looks equally nice and they should apply it to their entire fleet in my opinion. Well done UA!!!!

Wow, that livery looks fantastic on the MAX 9! Crazy how a subtle change can change a livery, really wish they put it on the 77W.

The 2nd 737 MAX 7 has rolled out in full Boeing house livery. It also features the same registration as the first MAX 7 for some reason.

I wonder why they’re keeping the engine cowling’s white on the 787s and now the MAX9s? It’s a small detail but ruins the livery for me aesthetically. It’d be nice if they made the wavy gold line connect with grey.

Quick Question: We see a number of planes rolled out 'awaiting engines'. On average, how much time elapses between roll out without engines and installation of the engines?

Thanks

Not sure if you can link the two things together or not, but CFM ( ref: https://www.reuters.com/article/us-cfm- ... SKBN1FE2OO ) suggests they are 4-5 weeks behind where they wanted to be in terms of ramp-up.

If you want to boggle your mind:

CFM said it had received orders for 3,444 engines worth $46 billion at list prices in 2017, including 2,870 LEAP engines. It has so far won orders or commitments for 14,270 LEAP.

It is hugely variable at the moment because if engine deliveries are on schedule they should ALL roll out with engines already installed. Basically when CFM send the engines they get put on, they are just a bit behind currently.

First 6 MAX will have Boeing service bulletin done in San Antonio by Boeing. Frame 7-on come with it already installed in production.

Basically the option was selected late and first 6 missed the master change.

I'm going to hazard a guess that will be a "no" considering the A320neo started deliveries in 2016 compared to 2017 for the MAX, delivered over 3 times as many frames last year (as the neo had a full year of deliveries) and both frames have similar monthly production rates now.

Apparently it's not all rosy with LEAP engines either. Deliveries have been slow in Q1 and it will take some months to catch up.

Question: yesterday a CA 737MAX8 was parked next to my plane. I noticed that on the nose section, below the cockpit, it just says „737-8“, exactly like on the Air Italy 737 above, but without „MAX“.

Only on the tail section there is a sticker „737-8 MAX“ in the style Boeing used on their prototypes.

What might be the reason for skipping the MAX-specification on the noses section?

I believe in most cases they don’t put NG on NG’s, they simply put -700, -800 or -900ER on NG’s. So it reasons that there is no need to place the MAX on the nose wheel door on the MAX’s

Could also be a Boeing thing, if you look at renders of the MAX they make its the same story.

“MAX” is just a marketing name, same as “Neo” with the A320/A330. The officials designations of the Maxes are 737-7, -8, -9, and -10.

Could also be a Boeing thing, if you look at renders of the MAX they make its the same story.
