If you mean this, it's still there on the sides of the seats. Same design with the A330, as done by Tokyo-based Lift Aero.

I think the plastic covering of the floors are causing that shine. But anyways I do miss the diamond droplets.

Would be great if PR's new A321N, RP-C9930 could grace MCIA T2's inauguration on Thursday, June 7th.

In the meantime, supposed new terminal assignments of airlines at NAIA are sowing confusion among the public..... :? .....

It was reported that PRD would be the guest of honor for the inaugural. Perhaps el kapiTAN will be generous and charter the NEO cheap to the presidential party? :scratchchin: .....

http://business.inquirer.net/251783/ceb ... -open-july

Quote:
"President Duterte is expected to grace the inauguration, said Louie Ferrer, president of GMR-Megawide Cebu Airport Corp. (GMCAC).

Ferrer said the resort airport would start commercial operations on July 1, as stated in their concession agreement."

What's more...the public would get a chance to experience T2 from the opening and the start of full operations on specific days.... :cheerful: .....

"Between the inauguration and the official opening, GMCAC will be opening the Terminal 2 on certain days for the public and guests to visit.

Test runs and clean up will also be made during the period."

Premium eco out of london is a 'must'-have.so its a great move by pal.pax are willing to pay more, to be not sitted in eco, especially the british, irish, icelandish etc, that want more comfort on a nearly 14h flight.the flight from a b777 is not a downgrade at all!with those luxurios cabins!

I suggest pal to offer lumpia vegi and meat,or fresh sariwa lumpia, as an appetizer (business and premium class).like the satay on singapore/malaysian,we have our own,the best eggrolls in asia!with the vinegar/chili sauce.hmmmmm.nobody will ever complain, because it is worldwide loved by foodies.do it now, before other do it pal!

It remains to be seen if PR would opt for the 280t weight variant upgrade and PIPs on their remaining A359s for delivery. Might help them through the harsh winters on their JFK and LHR services. :scratchchin:

There will be no tail camera...which is quite disturbing for an A350.thats one great feature about the a350!!!zoom the A350s pictures above, and you will know, what i mean.and compare it to qatars tail.there will be no tail-camera.

Magnificent :!:

Now that MCIA T2 has been drummed into the public's consciousness, will the Government finally act on NAIA's modernization :?: Had read a report saying they had retained the services of a consultant to evaluate and manage these huge PPP (or whatever else they may call it) programs. This recent development should expedite the process drastically as the country needed that NAIA upgrade yesterday.

:airplane: Wouldn't mind a new CS100 to replace that old "Bluebird" if this administration could complete NAIA's rehab 2-3 years into its remaining term. :wink2:

The second ex-Iberia A340 (RP-C3438) flew to SFB via SFO last week, where the first retired ex-Iberia A340 (RP-C3436) was ferried to earlier this year.

Looks like only four A340s are left in the fleet.

http://thestandard.com.ph/mobile/article/267745

They already fly to AKL, three weekly.
It’s been said that CDG/FRA//FCO are among their top priorities for new destinations...

But they need more A350-900s.i think they will not go for the -1000s (6 options).they still have 4 new B777 for sfo/lax/vancouver.
Zurich to Philippines has as much tourists like Auckland to Ph

Don't look now but RSA is saying they're just awaiting the President's go-signal to proceed with their Bulakan gateway proposal..... .....

Image

https://www.philstar.com/business/2018/ ... an-airport

Quote:
"MANILA, Philippines — San Miguel Corp., the country’s diversified conglomerate, hopes to soon get the Duterte administration’s approval for its proposed $15 billion airport in Bulacan.

'Let’s hope it will be soon so passengers will no longer have a difficult time traveling,' SMC president and chief operating officer Ramon Ang said during the company’s annual stockholders meeting in response to a query on when the project will take off.

In a briefing after the meeting, Ang said the President is very strong willed so the project’s approval may move faster than expected if Duterte wants it.

Ang touted the Bulacan airport as the solution to the airport taxiway and runway congestion at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

'The problem with NAIA now is not just runway congestion. It’s also airport taxiway congestion,' he said.

He has already tapped the best masterplanners and builders to design and construct the airport, which he said could be the cleanest and most efficient in the country.

'Once the government gives us the go-signal, we will reveal to the public the design of the project, but it will be a green airport, the cleanest, easiest, and friendliest,' Ang said."

Not a moment too soon! :spin:

From SkyscraperCity, PR's MNL-AKL flight the other day was operated by a tri-class A330.....RP-C8783 ..... :airplane: .....

(not this one).....

Maybe another one-off...could have been just a last minute equipment substitution. Still, a welcome change from the usual ex-IB A340.

Would be good for PR's MNL-AKL service if the A321XLR discussed in the thread above sees the light of day.....

A330 is just one sexy plane...
Hoping for more A350-900s in pals fleet (up to 15 A350-900s).Auckland/Sydney/Melbourne (pos. Christchurch) should be served by the A350-900s.6 refurb A330 should cover middle east routes, same new tel aviv.2 more A330 should be refurbished.the other 5 A330 should be sold or leased to another airline.too much A330s in their fleet.their 10 B777 should be all refurbished to 3 class, and replaced by 10 A350-1000 by 2026-2029.we hope for a new airport for the increasing pax, from new routes, otherwise pal can't grow at all.it all about the airport problem...

Pal is making losses,an investor should step in to refurbish their fleet, mentioned above (2 A330,10 B777) and more A350-900s
This is my personal opinion and 'wish' about pals fleet after studying their strategy a lot.

"An Airbus A330-900neo aircraft in the colors of launch customer TAP Air Portugal has embarked on a worldwide tour to demonstrate its readiness for airline operations, Airbus announced Monday. The Airbus newest aircraft will arrive in Manila on the first week of July for proving flights of its longest-ranged A330. As a final step in the aircraft certification phase, function and reliability tests planned during the tour include ETOPS missions, landing at diversion airports, and testing airport handling services. The route-proving tests form part of the last trials required for type certification, expected by the end of the summer.

Airbus offers the Rolls Royce powered A330-900 with an increased maximum takeoff weight of 251 tonnes, up from existing 242 tonnes, enabling it to cross the pacific. The A330-800, at 251 tonnes, can fly up to 8,150 nm with full passenger load in a three-class configuration, while the A330-900 flies as far as 7,200 nm fully loaded, or another 650 nm compared to the respective standard A330neo variants. Airbus offers the higher mtow A330neo as an option capable of doing Vancouver, Seattle, or San Francisco to Manila all year round and expects EIS in 2020."

CAPA has a new piece on PAL..... .....

https://centreforaviation.com/analysis/ ... ive-423380

Quote:
"Philippine Airlines (PAL) faces a momentous but challenging second half of 2018 as the airline group takes delivery of 13 aircraft and launches at least four new international routes. New nonstop flights to New York, Mumbai, New Delhi and Sapporo represent the latest phase in a strategic expansion plan that has already included five new nonstop long haul destinations since the beginning of 2017.

PAL recently took delivery of its first A321neo after several months of engine related delays. A second A321neo will be delivered next month along with PAL’s first A350-900. Both types feature lie-flat business class seats as part of an initiative to improve PAL’s long-haul product and attractiveness to potential partners.

PAL will use its first six A321neos, all of which will be delivered this year, for a new long haul low density narrowbody operation. Four A350s are slated to be delivered in 2H2018 and will be used to launch nonstop flights to New York and potentially to right-size London, which is now suffering from overcapacity with 777s."

..... but I'm not a subscriber so I don't know what the rest of the analysis say. :scratchchin:

Over at MCIA...this is probably the closest you could get to a snowy outdoor scene in CEB..... :santahat:

So, JFK and LHR (if they make the change) will be on the A359. Hopefully the aircraft changes means they can get the 343s off of the second SFO and LAX frequencies. I've heard not good things about them and I wouldn't want to be stuck on one all the way to/from MNL.

The new CEB terminal looks amazing. CRK better have something similarly pretty when it gets a new terminal.

It's likely that they'll pull out the 77Ws from JFK and LHR and put those back on SFO and LAX until the coming holiday season. The remaining two A359s to be delivered next year could do the second SFO and LAX frequencies for half the week each at least, but it's not definite as PR's advisory said both would be sent to the east coast. Not sure if the two would be used to restart ORD (from YVR)...or launch a SEA terminator.

http://www.centreforaviation.tv/ceo-upd ... -tel-aviv/

Anyway, in the above interview, PR's president confirms the A359s will first be deployed around the region for crew familiarization. The A343s will be used to start TLV (A333s are a bit challenged on the sector owing to overflight issues with S.A.) after which they'd probably be retired or held in reserve for charters. He did not mention anything about their A350 options nor the upcoming visit of the A339 to MNL as a possible replacement for the A340s.

CRK is alright (see #254 on page 6). But I'm concerned that NAIA would turn out to be more of a mall/casino complex than an airport if the other proponent could have its way. :worried:

In that CAAP interview with jaime: the B777 will get the refurbishments.bye bye A350-1000 plans for now.i think the other 6 options are A350-9s.they'll likely decide for the smaller variant.but when the B777 will be refurbished...that is the question.

PR would probably refurbish the 77Ws they own...the leased frames are likely to be returned when the leases expire.

SleeplessInZh wrote:

PR might decide to replace the first 77Ws completing their leases in two to four years. That's ample time to put their finances in order and exercise their options before those expire. It all depends on whether their business forecast favors addition of bigger or smaller capacity...or otherwise maintaining the status quo.

OTOH, their envisioned foray into new destinations begs for the most economical, practical fit. The blog below sings the praises of the A339N..... :praise: .....

http://philippineairspace.blogspot.com/ ... r-pal.html

While it could be good for the likes of TLV, SEA and YVR...it'd be just marginal farther into western Europe...and downright challenged TPAC to SFO and LAX from CEB... :stretch: ...

Image

http://www.gcmap.com/mapui?P=MNL-TLV/FC ... EB-LAX/SAN

If PR wanted a cheaper, more flexible, all-around compromise, then the unloved A338N fits the bill to a tee..... :airplane: .....

https://screenshots.firefox.com/plxM5C4 ... airbus.com

.....and is the perfect 1:1 replacement for the retiring A340s...especially if they intend to send it to SAN too as the blog says.

Quote from the FG link above.....

"Airbus also intends to start flight-testing the smaller A330-800 this year, says Jubecourt, which will also be offered as a 251t aircraft with a range of 8,150nm."

That is, if the fuel price increase persists and PR doesn't mind being the A338's only customer for a while. :cheerful:

These might provide a clue.....

Quote:
"Oneworld is also in discussion with undisclosed carriers from the Americas, Europe and Asia-Pacific about joining Oneworld Connect.

To become a Oneworld Connect partner, a carrier must be sponsored by at least three full-scale Oneworld members. The airline will then participate in loyalty program partnerships with its sponsors, and it will enter into interline check-in and baggage agreements with those sponsor carriers.

Customers of the Oneworld Connect airlines will have access to Oneworld alliance lounges at select airports. In addition, the Oneworld Connect partner will offer priority check-in access to all Oneworld Emerald, Sapphire and Ruby members and priority boarding for all Emerald and Sapphire members."

It may not be to the alliance's or carrier's interests to cooperate now for one reason or another.

Meanwhile, Flightglobal came out with a new article focusing on a nagging concern with the A330N..... :expressionless: .....

https://www.flightglobal.com/news/artic ... -t-449642/

Quote:
"Aside from any doubts over the market’s so far cool reception to the programme, Airbus has a separate concern with the most crucial part of the A330neo – its Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines.

Delays to those powerplants are responsible for the type’s belated service entry – deliveries were originally intended to begin in late 2017 – and now potential reliability issues are an additional headache that Airbus could do without. Both the airframer and R-R insist that the durability shortfall seen on the Trent 1000 for the Boeing 787 will not be replicated on other Trent-series engines.

In the meantime, the sight of all those 787s sitting on the tarmac while the engine issue remains unresolved is unlikely to persuade wavering would-be customers to commit to the A330neo, however unlikely that the fault is replicated on the Trent 7000."

I waited so long for the arrival of the a321 Neos.and up to now not 1 single person, did a review or video.instead reviewers are making videos about old A321or A340 or whatever, that noone is interested anymore, with tons of other reviews about the older planes.now,a321neo is flying everyday to bkk, back and fort, but noone comes to mind to make a short video from smartphone!this is just frustating...
I guess i need to wait for the 2nd july.hoping that some aussies will take the advantage to film the first A321neo in australia.
