The agency seems to have forgotten about the monumental delays inflicted upon the traveling public and the harm done to the national economy -- by multiple companies who worked on NAIA Terminal 3!

Well, at least he's being realistic. A new airport in Bulacan would still require some reclamation (a lot of areas in Bulakan are below sea level, after all), and it would take quite some time to finish that up.

As for turning the Danilo Atienza Air Base as a GenAv alternative to NAIA, there at least seems to be some movement regarding that. IIRC the project was already bidded out last year and they expect to finish the improvements by next year.

The DOTr/MIAA seem to be actually serious about at least improving NAIA a bit (no matter how incremental the changes may be), and they are about to start replacing T1's airbridges. https://twitter.com/DOTrPH/status/1011859422992363520

If NAIA still remains terrible, though, and any new airport project gets cancelled, PR always has the option of establishing an ATL-style transit hub at CRK or CEB for future growth.

It all depends on whether the NEO could do most of what PR needs it to do, and that the price delta between it and say, a regular weight (HGW not required for U.S. west coast/continental EU) variant A359 justifies the lower end choice. Of course, a standard weight A359 limits PR's flexibility to cycle it on a nonstop polar route. BTW, PR's second A359 is said to be on the flightline already...anybody got any pictures?

The long, tedious work is for subsurface settlement/stabilization, earth compaction and shoreline protection. As a natural flood basin, critical attention has to be given to airfield drainage and tidal effects around the area. Am familiar with the site conditions having lived the first fifty years of my life in the vicinity.

They don't serve the business class meals like in that photo.they serve them in trays...new plates and stylish cutleries are needed...when will they change the average-looking set of plates to porcellaine,a more stylish one?...much much more personalization (f.e trapestry design on plates) etc. is needed. but nice that their thin blanket will be now 3 layers (photo above) and hiring better chefs for the filipino cuisine @ business class,which is a step by step improvement.

With regards to PAL Business Class Meal Service It can be inconsistent at times based on my obersvation. On most long-haul flights to north america it's done more personally while for most other routes liked to Australia they used trays. As for the plate the design looks a bit different from what they are currently using however the shape remains the same with the old onces but I do agree that PAL those need to improved both presentation and quality of there inflight meals.

One Intresting observation is PAL has classified the A321-200 to the A321ceo which does make sense since both are technically designed as A321-200. so the ceo and neo make it easier to different each type.

Thanks for posting. Almost ~3 hours was ample time for a photo op and a short meeting...commensurate with a potential PR A339 order which could possibly be a conversion of their six A350 options. But no matter how small it may be compared to others' orders...all the obligatory due diligence have to be satisfied first before any i's are dotted and t's crossed (as in D7's case).

PAL finally announces the inauguration of the A350 to JFK! At the start of winter schedule the A350 will be deplyed on Manila-New York nonstop.
But a big surprise added here, is that PAL will increase the route from four to five weekly flights at the same time, which is a great development!
And as we know, they announced LHR to be operated by the A350 too. But what I noticed here was that they changed the schedule on the outbound MNL-JFK flight, which I think was done to allow PAL to operate LHR and JFK with only three aircraft, instead of four! Smart move my PAL and very efficient use of aricraft.

Of course CX will do whatever it takes to block out PR from One World.
Simply because CX makes solid loads/profits on flights from/to the Philippines and is not willing to give up its share on that market.
The fact that they do code share with PAL on CEB/MNL-HKG has no influence on that.
... and CX just extended their commitment to the Philippine market by adding DVO to their network recently (by means of KA).

I wish that PR would join Oneworld, though.
The next best would be Skyteam - which I would consider much more realistic because of much less local overlapping of ST members networks.

It appears PR may receive their A359s in quick succession based on hkcanadaexpat's (kudos to him BTW) updates in the A350 P&D thread. The first was contractually delivered June 28 and is set to fly home on July 14. The second has had its initial engine run and RTO and will conduct its FF tomorrow, July 9th. The third is said to be in cabin fit still. If all goes well, the A359 may even alternate with the A340s at LAX on lean days for part of its route proving flights... ...(though LHR will likely get priority) .....



Who knows...if we're lucky, we might even see the eventual phase-out of the ex-IB birds when CEB-LAX resumes...as PR complete their evaluation to make sure (paraphrasing TF) the price is right, engine is right, PDP (pre-delivery payments) is right...and performance of the 330 251-tonne is right..... .....

I just saw it through fb.yes they removed it...but they used more orange (hallogram-effect depending light,matching the sunriser logo).i like the tiny stripes.it looks somehow more modern...i can't explain why.but if they will refurbish their other A330 they need the droplets.
