Photoshop maybe, but definitely not a mirror. I like the scheme though so I hope it's applied on two planes indeed

Certainly fooled me, I thought it was a mirror until we got the confirmation from AS that it was in fact 926 and 927. The way they parked them certainly added to the confusion...

Ha, i brought up the possibility of reverting to the old design while taking their time to fix it correctly instead of rushing.

Anyways, good that deliveries will resume soon.

Airplane deliveries resuming in April is a great thing!

Pratt, part of United Technologies Corp (UTX.N), said its solution to the “knife-edge seal” issue was based on a design with which it had “significant experience,” without giving further details.

There are certainly regular trickle of gliders popping up on the Boeing 737MAX Production/Delivery Thread 2018, though I don't know whether that is operations normal or not.

I have heard that LEAP deliveries for the MAX are also late. Anyway the MAX, LEAP 1b,and neo, LEAP 1a, engines are not assembled at the same factory.

They should be happy the LEAPs are at least functioning and aren’t causing massive issues for airlines. They’ll catch up, eventually.... haha

Hmmm... Everything Pratt says they will do to fix their issues, you usually report as-is. But everything CFM says they will do, you question it. Why the double standard? :?:

Being a few weeks late with deliveries no question is disruptive for Airbus and the airline customers, but it's far less worse than delivery delays, frequent engine changes, AOGs etc.

I guess you haven't visited Specsavers lately: there is no question mark in my post, it was just an observation. This CFM shortage has been ongoing for 8+ months now, and is starting to affect the 737 MAX as well.

Being a few weeks late with deliveries no question is disruptive for Airbus and the airline customers, but it's far less worse than delivery delays, frequent engine changes, AOGs etc.

I wasn't even comparing to P&W, but apparently we can't talk about CFM without pointing fingers to the other engine vendor. Just because your neighbor ignores the traffic light doesn't mean you have to do it as well. CFM issues are real, and we can talk about it.

Did I say it was not real? I said it is disruptive for both Airbus and the airline customers. However, you typically don't question P&W's public statements with the same kind of tenacity, It's simply my perception. You can deny all you want. You're a valuable source for a lot of information here on the forum. I appreciate most of your posts. Everyone is entitled to have their opinions. However, I personally would prefer a moderator of the group to be a little bit less obvious with his or her biases. ;-)

Continuing on the PW1100G powerplant, P&W explains that the knife-edge seal was one of 17 changes the OEM made to improve overall reliability:

"We have gone back to an earlier design on a knife-edge seal on the eight-stage compressor," Hayes told attendees at an investor conference. The modification was one of 17 changes put into place to improve performance and durability, and the other 16 are showing no signs of problems. Upgrading the affected fleet to address the knife-edge seal issue is expected to take a "few months," Hayes said.

Thank you for the detailed information. Engines are routinely Frankensteined together with different generation parts. The interface form fit and function is required to be identical if the parts fit (most critical parts are keyed to prevent not allowed mismatches where keying might be just moving one bolt if Gen2 part A and Gen1 part B are not compatible).

But still two months of production as gliders...

At least fuel burn is good.

FWIW, I'm facinated by both vendors issues. The normal 18 month teething issues is being exceeded by both. Both will prevail.

It's a A321-271NX thus TK will become one of the first ACF operators. One can clearly see two over wing exit doors.

Yes its in Hamburg for modifications and perhaps analyzation of the data they gathered during the transatlantic test flight.
