Not much action these days with SQ ULH NY ......is it having mods ....cabin fit ...ot still in certification process? After very active start to programme pretty quiet of recent weeks.

Also -1000s appear inactive although thought CX and QR both due to receive deliveries soon.

A lot of current test flying at TLS seems to be 330neo related

One CX -1000 is at the delivery center, and seems to have done at least one CAF, so delivery should not be too far.
One QR -1000 has done two flights already.

Yes, this is soemhow a surprise. Airbus has previously mentioned it is only avaialbe from 2020 onwards.

No official source from IB nor Airbus seems to list it at that, appears to only be a Leeham article.... find it hard to imagine that Airbus would stay silent about a multi-ton MTOW increase being available for the standard model two years earlier than promised.

The Iberia birds are 275t which is not even the max available presently. This was confirmed in a briefing a few months back. They however have the all the required mods that enable 280t at a later date.

That would explain a good period of time where it is not test flying. I presume they have removed a lot (all?) of the additional external sensors before prepping for paint.

N. America probably doesn't need the higher weight variants, but Latin/S. America definitely does, not for the distance necessarily but for the cargo and occasional performance requirements while flying quite far.

I suspect that initial testing for certification and performance is now done- SQ announcing the schedule is a hint that spec will be met(perhaps exceeded based on what Zeke has hinted).

......The Iberia Airline is the first to receive, Airbus’s improved 280t version of the A350-900. The newer version has new higher winglets which allowed Airbus to achieve a range of 8,200nm when flying with a 3-class cabin of 325 passengers.

The Iberia’s parent company, IAG, ordered 16 A350-900s for Iberia and 18 A350-1000s for British Airways

Not sure if this is reliable. Seems decent

The A350-900 ULR has been test flown, I expect it not being an unreasonable decision for Airbus to move all produced frames to the new standard. If all the modifications come out as planed, we have an engine pip regarding fuel burn, the higher winglets, the new wing twist, further aerodynamic cleanup and a lighter frame.
Without talking about the 280 t, all the above changes should bring a up to 5 % better fuel burn compared to the first A350-900, so why wait to 2020 to introduce the changes.

That newsflight article is just wrong information that keeps being cycled by some of these internet outlets. This article clearly details what was stated by Iberia in a briefing-

http://fly-news.es/aviacion-comercial/a ... rbus-a350/

275t mtow (ready for 280)
revised wing twist
Lighter wing with one crfp layup reduced
revised fairing
bigger winglets
revised bilge (same as -1000 i guess)
revised window frames
beefed up landing gear( to eventually take the higher weigh)

If it is capable of 280 t and can be certified as that, but sold as a 275 t, that is a paper derate of a 280 t frame.

Till Airbus certifies the 280t variant for the non ulr (announced for 2020) it is not a paper derate of a 280t frame. Paper derate of the 278t? yes. The production block starting from the IB frame is ready for 280t when it arrives.

Which makes it a not-yet-certified 280t variant, so paper aside it's indeed a 280t bird waiting for authorization for usage, ergo a 280t bird.

Not showing yet in the Easa Tcds and Airbus was quite clear that it will be 2020 for the introduction. Plans change of course but no confirmation of that.

The 280 t will be certified, by the time the first Singapore A350-900ULR will be delivered. I make you a bet, that the normal frame 280 t will be certified at the same time.

Possibly, but until that time, with at least SOME official documentation, it's still jumping the gun to say that anyone other than SQ is going to be opping 280T capable birds.

But again, kudos to them if they can bring something to market two years earlier than promised; particularly on an aircraft that was *already* so damn amazing in its own right.

Will SQ ULH -900 undertake an extended flight ahead of delivery. I cannot recall any of the standard airframes doing any and on EIS they undetook commercial flights much greater than test frames. Is it just a case of extrapolation of data from flights of shorter duration and having confidence sub systems unlikely to generate problems? No doubt SQ A340 flights to EWR highlighted where any issues could arise.

The forward cargo hold on the ulr will not be active. I think this is what the SQ CEO meant by cargo restrictions which the media might have misunderstood as payload restrictions.

It is basically the same thing. If you can’t use the forward cargo hold you are therefore restricting possible payload assuming you are keeping your average cargo density the same. We also now know the number of seats Airbus is using for the ULR- 173.

True, though nobody would expect fuel-expensive ULH flights to take cargo in addition to pax and their luggage.

Many ULH flights take cargo, albeit small amounts. Nonstops equal reduced time to market among other things. On payload restricted flights like ULH, airlines can charge a further premium with simple supply and demand economics. Revenue from cargo usually far exceeds the cost of extra fuel to carry it. Otherwise no one would offer the service.

CX 1st A350-1000 (MSN 118, B-LXA, ex F-WZGV, CX #23) is online with it's final registration.
So transfer of ownership maybe already done or imminent and delivery should follow in the next days.

The acap is updated with loads of new info....

The front page states:

Presumably you gained permission from Airbus to post this document on this forum?

Airbus freely distrubutes ACAPs, including the one ap305 supplied, to the public: http://www.airbus.com/aircraft/support- ... stics.html

He just cut out the middle man and linked directly to the document and not the website linking to the document. Linking to a document is not reproducing it, and we are authorized to see it or else Airbus wouldn’t put it on their public website. If it was a mistake Airbus will pull it and the link will be broken. That is no doubt just a standard message approved by lawyers that Airbus puts on all their documents, including the ones we don’t have access too and as members of the public are not authorized to see.

MSN 118 isn't scheduled to be delivered until next week. A big media event is being organised for 6/18 & 6/19.

MSN 126 (QR#28) completed its RTO. First flight scheduled for Thursday
MSN 219 (IB#1) has been moved to the delivery centre

As polot points out, I have only posted the link to the forum not the document itself which is hosted publicly on the Airbus site. If the mods have a issue with it they can delete my post.
