It just might be. Over in the MAX thread, the first MAX for RAM has the same red paint on the base of the rudder.

The 787-10 seen flying from a distance has more than a bit of "big 752" about it. I watched a lot of 787-10 approaches from my office window during the test program. It's a great-looking airplane.

N17002 will be UA’s second -10. Boeing was doing a final test flight before delivery.

And here it is !

Painted at San Bernadino. I think this livery trumps Azerbaijan's for taking the top spot on the 787s.

In the two pictures that CassidysVacay posted in post# 1071, the front landing gear doors are different in the two planes, and the rear landing gear are tipped back on Etihad, and forward on United, are they just in a different part of the landing phase? It almost seems like the United plane is not yet fully extended, yet they both appear to be landing, and obviously close to the ground.
Great pics by the way, really like the Etihad livery on all of their aircraft.

I would assume that the UA bird is doing a go-around and has started to retract its undercarriage.

Speaking of said aircraft is has been delivered today.

If you look closely the TE flaps on the Etihad are fully extended for landing, so it will be doing a full stop (probably) whereas the United has only partial TE flaps indicating their gear configuration is due to an alternate gear extension so they can check the "TOO LOW GEAR" (and also the "TOO LOW FLAPS") caution followed by a go-around. If it had started a go-around the nose would have been pitched up -- want a positive rate before the gear comes up.

You're right. UA was doing a missed approach but the gear wasn't retracting just yet. At that particular point in the photo they are about ~200 AGL and ~1800 ft. from the threshold.

Below you can see Etihad is in the go but the gear is still fully down. Here, they are probably just over the numbers. They usually go another several hundred feet before retracting. I've seen it too often.

You know your 787's 7BOEING7. All of what you said is correct. Full stop was performed by the Etihad and United was about to go around.

It's not just the 1st 787-9 for TK in this update, it's the 1st 6 that they will get next year close after each other. Considering this is one of the more recent orders it's pretty much tells us that they got some of the extra 14 per month slots.

The update also show some direct orders from Suparna Airlines that have never been announced. There's also a unknown GECAS 787-9 delivery with the airline code CWY. GECAS converted 6 of their 787-10 to the 787-9 earlier this year in one go. 2 of those 787-9s will go to Suparna Airlines, this 3rd one with this de code CWY could be another Chinese airline, probably also one of the HNA Group airlines.

Should be just cushioned. With the weight of the plane it isn't going anywhere so no need for suctions.

That looks to still be the plan. It was delivered to Boeing Business Jets in 2015 and then transferred to the Bank of Utah. It was undergoing conversion by Korean Airlines into a VIP frame at Moses Lake before moving in earlyNovember to San Bernardino for painting (likely in the ROK color scheme). Then it will be back to Moses Lake.

That picture is from today, post-painting. It sure doesn't look like any previous ROK color scheme - it's very "generic BBJ," with gray and black swoops.

It's still early in the game. As information filters down regarding how well the airplane is performing in terms of passenger satisfaction, range and effciency specifications, etc. I suspect more orders wil follow. Even with more orders, there seems little doubt the 787-9 will be the major production model, the -10 being too big for many airlines.

Frankly I find it a significant improvement on the scheme adorning their 747-400.

Does anyone have a current breakdown of how cumulative engine selection stands? XX% GE. XX% RR?

This how it stands right now (up to 31 September 2018)

It's pretty much 60/40 between GE and RR, with GE's share growing over the last couple of years.

Orders:
GE: 814 - 58%
RR: 451 - 32%
unknown: 138 - 10%
total: 1403

Deliveries:
GE: 458 - 61%
RR: 296 - 39%
total: 754

RR don't seem to be able to catch a break at the moment. Engines packed up on G-CKWP on Saturday afternoon as it was leaving on delivery. Couldn't get them fired up, dead! Towed back to a flight line stall and crew went back home.

Reminds me of '70s cars where parts would be falling off as the dealer pointed out the features to you in the delivery area.
