Agreed. WN needs to focus on making BNA their flagship station in the southeast. It makes no sense trying to build up ATL because of the humongous DL hub. I would maintain what they have at ATL, but focus all future growth (especially in connections) in the southeast at BNA.

I believe the expansion is slowly but surely happening.

I wonder if they expect the buildout of concourse D might slow down ops? I've seen them RON flight where the new concourse will go. There will have to be cranes and construction equipment on the tarmac. Could result in a slower pushback from the gates.

If they got some of the former AA/MQ RON spots opposite 13 and 14 when they got those gates they should be all right on RON space. Already they have shifted flights off of 4 (which I think they now use only for the early bank) and 7.

Oddly, AA is now the one with an RON space problem. They have been putting a 738 on B (6 or 8, I think) many nights.

I learned that WN paid the airport authority good money to get C13 and C14. BNA sits at 112 daily departures, STL 115, ATL 120.

I am pretty sure it is 112 on Sunday only at BNA. mon-fri is more like 101 (at least for June it was 101, August is 102)

I still can't believe ATL has more departures. Someday that will change.

Too bad WN can't take over all of C.

I suspect BNA will overtake ATL on departures. They seem content on ATL moving to O&D. Changing flights at BNA is infinitely easier than ATL. Based on posts above, there doesn't seem to be consensus on daily (M-F) flights. I counted 110. With 14 gates they have ample room to expand.

I was just making a statement that pax might find BNA easier to connect. The gates are relatively close together in the same concourse with good vendor and food options. I xfer in ATL on DL, and am used to it. I just see BNA a better option than Atlanta, and it seems they are rightsizing it towards O&D, with some connection.

It looks like they’re building offices where the children play areas on the B concourse were.

Tomorrow is the day, I will be taking the BA flight. I'll try to get pictures, though I will be busy so I may not be able to post them until I get back late next week (I'm connecting onward).

Does anyone know why 31 is being used so heavily for departures in the last couple of weeks? I know 2L is essentially unusable for departures right now because A1, A2, B1, and B2 are all closed but they could run 2R departures and 2C arrivals on north flow. Has BA been arriving on 2L despite the current lack of ILS?

20R/2L is closed for awhile. They’ve been running a mix of departures off 2R. 31 has been the primary runway because it’s so damn out out, that the planes need the extra length. BA has been landing 20L/2R. Haven’t seen them on 2C.

will definitely pick up the pax numbers as DL adds the 757-200 on BNA-ATL hope it keeps growing and that they continue to upgauge aircraft and swap a lot of the RJ to mainline.

As long as companies like Alliance Bernstein keep relocating to Nashville and tourists keep coming (and judging from the amount of hotels that are being built the people who make money on tourism think they’ll keep coming), the numbers will continue to tick up. Add the delta upgauge to 752’s to the 5 flights a day WN will run on that route starting next month and you could see the ATL numbers, already substantial, go to 600,000+ yearly if not more.

Butch Spyridon is still pushing hard to get a flight to Japan. Nashville/TN have over 170 Japanese companies, with over 40,000 employees. The consulate is here. A 4x weekly 788 would be perfect for BNA, and not get in the way of the BA flight at the temporary FIS facility.

I agree with everything you have written. I still think that splitting a slot and airplane between BNA and a peer city (IND?) would be the most sensible way to serve Japan ex-BNA. The trouble is that no one seems to be thinking about TYO-interior US. After opening SAN and BOS relatively close together, JL has been quiet.

So I took the BA flight last Wednesday. Feel free to ask any questions. I will post a more detailed review with pictures when I get home next Sunday (the 22nd), but I will say the flight was PACKED (and it would appear my inbound flight is too as I am trying to upgrade and there are limited options available). I don’t see any reason why this can’t become daily.

I’m curious to see how it’ll do in the Winter. I do believe it’ll be upguaged and increased to daily.

DL will begin regular A321 service from DTW-BNA this fall. This is the first time BNA will see regularly scheduled A321 service on Delta.

Wow, they’ve really been pushing to increase their foothold at BNA. Makes me wonder if they would consider adding a few p2p flights.

Excited for the A321 to detroit probably replacing the 717-200 or MD-88/90 I will be happy to take that flight when I connect BNA-DTW-EWR

Its replacing both essentially. The route is currently 5x during that period 1x 739 1x 321 3x 717.

I don't think they would. Pro football fans do not travel to away games as much as college fans do. Titans fans are very fickle and Fair weather types. Unless they are undefeated and blowing out their appointments, I just don't see it happening. The team and associated pax they carry will easily fit at 788.

Can you blame them? Until this past season they had gone 9 years without a playoff appearance and 14 without a playoff win. The Titans are a business and nobody puts forth effort to watch a business fail consistently.

Yet people still consistently show up in droves to watch the volunteers lose. (I know college football is different in the Southeast, but the premise is the same)

I wouldn't expect any upgauging, but prices will be a bit higher for sure around those dates.

It could be a good time for them to try out the 787-9 on the route definitely some wealthy Nashvillians would pay extra for F non-stop on the way to the game

I was with my brother today when he was having a conversation with a friend who flew British BNA-LHR-BNA recently. The man had no issues about the flight or the aircraft itself. He did mention BNA has one of the worst TSA and FIS experiences he has even witnessed. This coming from someone who flies to London 12-16x a year.

I’ll be taking the BA flight inbound on Saturday and will confirm if this is true or not, but based on what I have heard, I have reasons to believe it is.

Looks like the Titans (or NFL) have 5 packages to London. Two are 4 night plans that list roundtrip nonstop flights to LHR, two are 4 night packages without flight listed and 1 game day plan.

I took the BA flight to Nashville on the 2nd day that it ran. FIS was fairly painless for me, but I have Global Entry. I'm not sure how it went for others. I waited for bags as long as I normally do on a domestic flight, so the only difference time wise was the extra time it took to walk from FIS once I had my bag.

I think the main issue my friend had with the FIS on A was he did not have Global Entry, and was one of the last people off the aircraft. Global Entry is the way to go even if you just a handful of international flights.

Here are some pictures I took on the BA flight. I traveled in economy both ways. It was a decent overall experience, nothing extraordinary, but simply good. The legroom wasn't as a bad as some make it out to be, but it nonetheless wasn't great. Both there and back took just over 8 hours. They serve you lunch/dinner on the flights (depending on which way you are going) plus a light breakfast on the outbound flight to LHR (as it is essentially a red-eye flight).

On the way back, customs wasn't terrible (sorry that I couldn't get pictures there as we were not allowed to have our phones out), but it was a bit disorganized and outdated. It is fine for now, but it is clear to me that they need to get going on the new IAB if they want to attract additional international flights, as I don't see how the existing "temporary" facility could handle anything beyond what I experienced.

I appreciate BA's willingness to come in and launch this flight. I will say the flight was pretty much full both ways (I couldn't see any open seats) and I see no reason why this can't become daily by next year. If you have any further questions, feel free to ask.

He clearly doesn’t have Precheck if he had TSA trouble. I can’t remembwr the last time I waited more than 5 minutes.

I think I've managed to point out the advantages of planning ahead. The cost is well worth it.

TSA at BNA is some of the best I’ve experienced.

As of right now, the BA flight will go down to 4x week from 10/28 to 3/31, with the Monday frequency being eliminated and the Saturday frequency has been changed to Sunday. It will be Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.

I wonder why this is the case. MSY operates at 5x week during the winter and they are a smaller market. Yes, tourism season is the highest then, but the Nashville demand seems to be stronger thus far than MSY was when it started.

Once again, I don't see why it can't be daily, at least during the summer peak season.

I don’t know the details but maybe it’s a plane shortage issue? I have no doubt that this flight will eventually be daily so I’m not too worried about it, but maybe BA wants the extra metal to upgauge or add some more tropical destinations during the winter.

MSY has had the route longer so it has had more time to mature and they have a better handle on demand. Nashville still needs to establish things. I would guess next year it would be 5x over winter (or more).

I noticed today on Flightradar24 that DL is using a 739 for their CUN flight instead of the formally usual mad dog. When was that upgauged? Is it permanent?
