Just left CVG and the booths as you leave the garage have been destroyed. There is now a new awning outside next to the double tree as you take a left out of the garage. Much more modern.

I noticed that this morning. I’m shocked at how fast they were able to accomplish that. Hopefully the line moves fast!

Curious if anyone else has noticed any other one off day of the week schedule variances for a specific route. For example- Delta CVG-LAS operates daily with a departure time of 8:20 AM, however on mondays it departs at 6:15 AM. As a business traveler, an earlier west coast departure time is ideal on a Monday. Would love if this was offered for the CVG-SFO Route. Is there an equipment issue that is driving this? Or is it to be CVG business traveler friendly? Any other routes with a similar situation?

Just curious...

It looks like CVG no longer has the ticket counter rebranding as a future bid item. It is still possible that they have just not put up the bid, but I hope we did not loose out on a new carrier. With WOW going seasonal, I guess that space could now be available for whoever need ticketing counters (be it a current or new carrier).

TOL-SFB is dropped for September this year. Also at TOL, ORD loses a flight for August and September and CLT goes all CR7.

CVG will see RDU/PVD/BWI eliminated for the winter. Most of the cut routes are due to the aircraft shortage. Once next spring comes around, all of these cut routes will be able to resume.

OAG Changes:
AA DFW-CVG SEP 5>4
AA ORD-TOL SEP 3>1.8
AA PHL-CMH SEP 7>5

F9 ATL-CVG AUG 1.0>0.7 SEP 1.0>0.6 OCT 1.0>0.6 NOV 0.5>0.3
F9 CVG-PHL AUG 0.6>0.2
F9 CVG-PHX AUG 0.6>0.2

UA EWR-CVG DEC 6>5 JAN 6>5 FEB 6>5
UA ORD-CAK DEC 5>4 JAN 5>4 FEB 5>4

Looks F9's CVG-ATL is going less than daily. Though, it does appear the route might run through the off-season, historically it has been spring/summer seasonal.

American Airlines Increases Toledo-Charlotte Capacity

"Due to strong demand, American Airlines will soon increase capacity by 26 percent out of Toledo Express Airport (TOL) by adding larger aircraft that will offer first class seats when flying to Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT). The new aircraft, Bombardier CRJ-700s, are equipped with 63 seats, which include nine first class seats, eight main cabin extra seats and 46 main cabin seats. The first CRJ-700 flight to CLT is scheduled to depart TOL at 1:37 p.m. on Sept. 5. The addition of CRJ-700s to Toledo Express Airport marks the first time an airline has made first class seating available since July 2001."

Boy, that's a bit of a cut for an airport (CMH) which seems to be frequency heavy. Dropping two RJs for a mainline flight?

Good to see for TOL. Pretty remarkable it's been 17 years since they've had mainline.

Just announced today, the same guy that setup JetBlue is launching a new US LCC. They have ordered 60 CS300 aircraft. If the airline actually comes to fruition, I would imagine we could see this airline in some Ohio airports.

It sounds like Skybus with more perks. Given Neeleman's track record, I could see it coming to life.

The definition of "secondary" is interesting. If it's the true meaning of the term and not a way of saying "Not JFK and LAX", it all might come down to what they consider secondary for Ohio. The only true secondary airport in Ohio is LCK. LUK? DAY for Cincinnati? TOL for Detroit? CAK or YNG for Pittsburgh/Cleveland?

The article said "secondary airports", but knowing how bad journalism is when it comes to aviation matters I'm inclined to believe the intent is really "secondary markets", not "secondary airports". In other words serving the primary airport in secondary markets, such as CLE, PIT, SDF, MSY, etc as opposed to YNG, LBE, LUK, etc. Kind of like a OneJet on steroids. We'll have to wait to see.

It mentions Fort Worth though, which I don't really consider a secondary market. I would think most people lump it in with Dallas.

Again though, that's what a journalist said.
" such as Providence, R.I.; Fort Worth, Tex.; and Burbank, Calif."
Did that come from Neeleman's mouth, or did a journalist rattle off a list of airports (or markets) he considers secondary just to give some examples? I'll stick with a wait and see attitude to see what this is really about.

Wow going season is disapointing. Especially after they already expanded their summer service before operating their first flight.

When did they announce this?

The award for the project is still pending. I saw awhile back that the project would be awarded on July 5, but it is possible that date has/will change. Probably still some more time until they start work.

I was a bit disappointed as well, but then we also have remember that CVG does in fact have daily service to Paris through the fall, winter and spring...so not completely surprising. That's a lot of capacity for the shoulder months.

How are the other Delta routes looking? Curious about the other Detla mainline flights and any regional that could be upguaged in the future.

How are the other Delta routes looking? Curious about the other Detla mainline flights and any regional that could be upguaged in the future.

Here are all the routes with both ways combined:
CVG-LAX: 92.5%
CVG-LAS: 90.3%
CVG-DEN: 89.8%
CVG-FLL: 89.4%
CVG-RSW: 89.3%
CVG-SLC: 89.2%
CVG-ATL: 86.5%
CVG-RDU: 85.8%
CVG-TPA: 85.5%
CVG-JFK: 80.9%
CVG-MSP: 80.4%
CVG-MCO: 78.6%
CVG-BWI: 77.4%
CVG-LGA: 77.2%
CVG-DTW: 77.0%
CVG-DCA: 75.6%
CVG-MCI: 75.0%
CVG-IAH: 74.7%
CVG-DFW: 73.9%
CVG-ORD: 73.7%
CVG-SFO: 72.1%
CVG-BDL: 69.0%
*CVG-SEA: 68.8%
CVG-MKE: 68.2%
CVG-EWR: 63.6%
CVG-STL: 61.8%
*CVG-BOS: 59.0%
*CVG-CLT: 54.0%
CVG-BNA: 53.9%
*CVG-PHL: 51.9%
CVG-XNA: 41.6%

*For these routes, they were upguaged at the last moment, most likely due to equipment constraints. PHL went from 3xCRJ to 3xCR9, SEA went from 1xA319 to 1xB738/9, BOS went from 2xB712/2xCR9 to 2xB738/2xCR9, and CLT went from 3xCRJ to 1-2xCR9/1-2xCRJ.

As for upgrading, most of these routes were upuaged starting in March, so there were a lot of seats for the market to absorb. RDU is an obvious one that could take more seats, which makes sense since it was recently upguaged to 2xCR9, but I would love to see a 3rd daily on the route. I also am still surprised that CVG-JFK is only 1x/day, it seems like CVG should be able to handle at least 2-3x/day.

Wow passengers were stuck on a plane at CVG for hours due to a customs paperwork issue.

They said they were not permitted to go into the terminal and were instructed to only use the restroom facilities on the plane...

The passengers should have been allowed into the terminal, said Mindy Kershner, CVG spokeswoman.

"According to CVG procedures, they are allowed in," she said.

Kershner said she was scrambled to the terminal once she learned about the problems from and quickly began trying to coordinate food, drinks and cots for all the passengers.

https://www.cincinnati.com/story/news/2018/06/20/wow-air-passengers-stranded-plane-hours-cvg/716968002/

I’m kinda curious how this happened? Did the Wow Air staff not understand the American rules? Also, since the above wings ground staff is outsourced, shouldn’t they know the rules? I could understand the foreign flight attendants not knowing the rules, as they may not deal with this situation very often. Who did Wow outsource their above the wings handling to?

Delta has ordered 20 CRJ-900's due for delivery later this year. Makes perfect sense given their focus city strategy. I am sure it will allow them to start some new routes at CVG next year. http://www.businessinsider.com/r-bombar ... nes-2018-6

According to other threads, DL is hiring staff for their RDU/AUS and now apparently BNA focus cities. That might explain why they have kept CVG-BNA around. With focus cities on both ends, the route will probably be able to handle 2xCR9 with better timing. Another article stated that PDX/MCO/LAS are also being designated focus cities. I would assume an official focus city in PDX will make CVG-PDX much more likely.

Exciting times at Delta!

Woah, let’s slow down here for a second. I doubt all those cities become true focus cities in the style of RDU/CVG. They may get some p2p flying, but will be see a bunch of new red dots on the map at the next investor day presentation?

I don't think DL means focus cities in the sense of BOS/CVG/RDU. Frankly, BOS is a hub at this point and CVG/RDU are mini-hubs/glorified focus cities. As for BNA/AUS/PDX/MCO/etc, they are probably referring to the IND focus city structure, with a TATL flight + a few p2p routes, totally no more than ~40-50 daily flights.

I do believe AUS should become a large focus city in the style of RDU/CVG, but the rest can be as you say. Though I will be shocked if BNA gets a DL TATL flight anytime soon, there are only so many slots at CDG/AMS.

This is starting to sound like when AA or US had hubs/focus cities all over the place. I bet they fume at MEM if they follow through with it with RDU, ATL, CVG, and possibly IND and BNA a stone's throw away from each other but MEM and ATL "too close".

Blaze Pizza opens today in Concourse A.

Parking has been full for most of June. They have maxed out the long term almost every week, whereas that only happened on peak days like Thanksgiving last year. The new long term lot cannot open soon enough!

Delta Private Jets is opening a new maintenance facility at FLL. Too bad they didn't expand the CVG MRO, but it does mean that they are still doing well. http://www.aviationpros.com/press_relea ... lauderdale

CVG has also added monitors to tell passengers where the trains are located. It is always a tough call wether to wait for the train or walk to Concourse B. Nice to see this finally implemented!

This is cool to see. Remembering reading about this a few months back. Definitely think it will help the passenger experience. I kind of hope they keep the trains but that means they'd have to keep the terminals this way long-term. That then however would probably require passenger numbers to make it to that predicted 11-13 million range. Otherwise the place is too big. Once the Delta lease on B is over in 2020 do you all think maybe American will stay and be joined by United there? Then everyone else goes/stays in A except any international flights. Could that even work?

Depending on how last minute that last moment was, those CR9 for CRJ swaps could very well have generated higher yields, from the ability to sell F tickets, even if the Y load factors were crap. (I am always surprised/dismayed when I fly a 50-seater on CVG-PHL.)

More of the plane's time may be needed on Monday then on say Wednesday due to a fuller schedule (the reverse happens on Saturday). Thus they have to adjust route timings to get more utilization out of their frames frame.
I don't know where that need is down the line, but just a hunch.
Any idea by the way on TOL (FlyinRyan? sorry if thats wrong...)
Hoping to see UA to ORD...

I didn't realize CMH-YYZ was up to 5x daily on AC CRJs until yesterday. That's pretty impressive seeing as it was 3x on Dash-8s just a couple years ago.

Any chance one of these could move to YUL? I know they've grown their international footprint the last few years so you could do some connections plus PIT added one their recently. Just a thought. Same for CVG.

Would be nice. I went CVG-YYZ-YUL-LIM on AC recently...and I was about 1 of 10 people on the plane with the same itinerary. Would do it again if I could cut out the YYZ-YUL "shuttle".

Boy, that's a bit of a cut for an airport (CMH) which seems to be frequency heavy. Dropping two RJs for a mainline flight?

Good to see for TOL. Pretty remarkable it's been 17 years since they've had mainline.

AirTran had business class obviously up until 2002, but this is a very good upgrade.

May passenger statistics were presented to the committee today:
American Eagle operated by Envoy/PSA/Skywest - 11,873 (+98.6%)
Allegiant Air - 7,856 (-.9%)
Total Airport - 19,931 (42.2%)
Year To Date - 110,155 (38%)

CLT continues to run at almost 90% loads and hopefully the yields are good and this can bring more service in 2019.

CMH-YUL would have to be bought just like PIT-YUL was.

I misread FlightAware yesterday- the 5th segment was a private jet. I could've sworn on first glance there were five Georgian flights but there weren't.

The monthly CRAA board meeting packet is out. It's worth poring over the stats in detail if you're interested, some hightlights -

- Monthly traffic at CMH up 6.4%, on par with YTD,
- CI cargo officially transitioned from chartered to scheduled service 3x weekly effective 5/22,
- The board is voting on a resolution to purchase and install jetbridges at gates A2 and C50

Based on what I have heard, DL has already renegotiated its airport leases so the 2020 lease no longer applies. DL agreed to house AA while work is done on Concourse A, however, they get to choose what is done with the gates once the work in A is complete. If I had to guess, I think that AA will move back to Concourse A, while the gates will revert to common use. They tried to move United originally, but they refused to take up the offer, so I doubt we will see them move over.

Columbus finally gets its SEA flight! :duck:

YOY for May:
AC +15.5%
AA +0.1% (112 more passengers carried)
DL +6.0% (on 15 fewer flights; there's the upgauge the DL rep talked about at work)
F9 -46.7%
WN +6.0%
UA +0.4%
G4 +23.8%
J1, NK no data.

Concourse B is going to be getting a new common use lounge. I currently don't have any specific details, but it looks like it will be in the B18-21 area. Also, the massage bars in both Concourses will be reopening near gates A7 and B16.

Kind of surprised CVG needs this many lounges:
USO - 2
Common Use - 2
Legacy - 1 (Delta)

I hadn't touched this spreadsheet of CVG PPD in quite a while until the last few days. I've updated the numbers and added a chart at the bottom that shows the average number of pax per day broken down by quarter. Remember, these are pax per day both ways combined. This report only shows cities that average 10 pax per day minimum so the numbers are far from 100% accurate. It is interesting seeing how much the numbers per day have gone up over the last couple of years. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... sp=sharing

Jetbridges at A2 and C50? They already have them...I would think they'd be going into A1 & C48 - both of which need them.

These are replacements. The packet goes on to say the jetways are original to 1989 and 1995, which are the respective build years for concourses A and C. C50 was C4 under the old numbering system and was the last gate in the original section before it was extended in 2002.
