He further sits on the Board of Directors of Allegiant Travel Company.

Those Copenhagen loads are not that great. I thought they would be better given that they are flying between two Star Alliance hubs.

I wonder, how much profit does Air India make on those routes. According to CAPA, Air India expected to handle around 40,000 passengers on the CPH route in 2017, but I assume it should be "per year" instead of "in 2017". And Copenhagen Airport CEO said 'Our expectations are high for Air India Delhi-Copenhagen service' since CPH has been working extremely hard for more than eight years to get a route to India on the map. I would say the CPH launch was a disappointment, but let's see if there are more passengers on flights this year.

The CPH launch is not a disappointment - making that conclusion based om traffic numbers for the first three months of a new route says a lot about your general lack of insight. Which is also obvious when I read you other posts here on A.net.

1) You do not know the yield of the route.
2) Secondly the presented numbers for the CPH route are incorrect. The correct CPH numbers for 2017 are 17.556 pax, avg 191 (~75%)
3) You do not know the forward booking numbers

Indeed it looks like the article was updated after my post.

Q4/2017 with corrected numbers:
ARN: 14.776 pax, avg 185 (~72%)
CPH: 15.557 pax, avg 199 (~78%)

Like you said, it's pointless to try to draw any conclusions especially at this early point, but the corrected figures still sound a lot better to the ears.

The JAL 789 (JA861J) that had been stranded at HEL for almost two weeks is finally heading back to NRT after an engine change (the GEnx was transported by road from Amsterdam).

Mora

Sat Feb 03, 2018 1:33 am

Mora in Sweden will lose its link with Direktflyg / AIS Airlines to Stockholm-Arlanda after 28-Feb-2018. There's politics involved between local Govt, the Swedish Transport Administration, the Swedish national Govt in Stockholm, and the EU in Brussels. As to whether the winter seasonal link with BRA to Helsingborg lasts beyond 28-Feb-2018 I have no idea. Without the Arlanda link, the future of Mora airport is very much in doubt

The future Sälen Trysil Airport will probably steal most of the remaining traffic, leaving Mora with General Aviation and a few occasional charters.

Hopefully this is the right thread to post in. I see ET flies ARN-OSL and was wondering if a person with an American passport can book this flight. Probably the cheapest and fastest way to experience flying on a 787 and ET. Also why does ET fly ADD-ARN-OSL?

Yes, as this is a 5th freedom route you can book it irrespective of passport nationality. Flew it myself last May and recommend it.

I would think the reason for it is that neither ARN nor OSL warrant stand alone flights to ADD.

Why would someone with a US passport not be able to book this flight? They used to fly ADD-VIE-ARN, but then added more flights to Europe, and it became ADD-ARN-OSL instead.

SAS traffic figures – January 2018

• Scheduled traffic (RPK) decreased 7.1% and the capacity (ASK) was up 0.3%.
• The load factor decreased by 5.1 p.u. versus last year to 63.9%.
• Scheduled number of passengers amounted to 1.8 million in January. (-5.3%)
• The preliminary currency adjusted yield increased 6% while the PASK decreased 2% in January 2018 vs. last year. The nominal yield increased 4% and the PASK decreased 3% in January 2018 vs. last year.

SAS development during Q1, FY18
The traffic development during Q1 FY18 has been in line with SAS’s expectations and guidance. The yield/PASK development has, however, been better than anticipated. As part of the efforts to balance the production and cost base to the seasonal demand, SAS has decreased the number of flights by 5% during Q1.

Due to last year’s anniversary campaign and the phase in of larger aircraft, SAS’s overall load factor and traffic volumes have been lower than last year, but on par with FY16. This trend is expected to continue during the winter program 2017/2018. Thereafter, the volumes and load factors are expected to be more in line with FY17.

In fiscal year 2017/2018, SAS plans to increase capacity (ASK) by around 1–3%, driven by longer European routes and the fact that the Airbus A320neo has more seats than the aircraft being replaced.

Tot: 1,839,287 +2%

Dom: 396,971 +1%

Only a 2% increase of pax. Not quite as impressive as HEL/KEF.

Then you need to go back to school mate...
That’s a 13x a week operation ...
Each morning sees a rtn flight ...= 7 a week
Each evening sees a return flight except one day, that = 6 a week...
7+ 6 = 13 rtn flights a week.

TUI Nordic start direct 787 services from Finnish OUL and VAA to Phuket/Krabi in Thailand next winter. VAA with 300K passengers (2017) probably is one of the smallest airports handling 787.

Calm down mate. For example routesonline.com report routes like this:
LOT Polish Airlines yesterday announced additional route launch, as the airline schedules Warsaw – Moscow Domodedovo route. Commencing on 03JUN18, the Star Alliance carrier will operate this route 6 times a week, mainly with Embraer E175/195 aircraft.

LO679 WAW2000 – 2310DME EQV x5
LO680 DME0800 – 0920WAW EQV x6

How many operation this make for one week?

Edit: Here is better example, start counting! :D
LOT Polish Airlines yesterday announced planned Warsaw – Singapore service, which sees the airline returns to Singapore market after 23 years of cancellation. From 15MAY18, Boeing 787-8 aircraft will operate this route 3 times a week initially, 4 weekly from 02JUL18, subject to Government Approval.

LO067 WAW2300 – 1715+1SIN 788 246
LO068 SIN0005 – 0615WAW 788 146

Service operates Day x357 from WAW, Day x257 from SIN from 02JUL18.

Yes, I read that some members of the Swedish team weren't too happy at first as they thought the Finnish players would be traveling in business class. I guess in the end they were glad that wasn't the case, however it seems that Finnair (which sponsors the team) seated the Finns in Economy Comfort while the Swedes had to settle for a little less. As many of the players are close to 200 cm tall or more, it probably wasn't the most pleasant journey but luckily the flight is just a bit over 8 hours. Nevertheless, one would think that the teams have the budgets for paying a bit more for their trips!

I wish that especially people living around TMP will use their own airport, as TMP struggles to grow pax numbers. (They will get more charters to Turkey and Greece)

QED.

Too Many Armchair CEO’s on here mate...
And as you think you’re #1..... you can take the brunt.

1st example into DME is a 6 day a week operation.
2nd example into SIN 3 times a week initially , rising to 4 times a week when approval is granted.
All you have to do is READ the text.
I suspect that your life as an Armchair CEO would be very short lived ,if the opportunity ever arose for you.

sry sir, but you totally miss the point.

x7 on the timetable mean that flight doesn't operate at sundays, and x6 mean that flight doesn't operate at saturdays. So that WAW-BLL flight operates 12 times a week.

Have nice weekend! :banghead:

So you do agree that LOT to BLL will be 12x a week according to the post from Airlineroutes:

LO465 WAW-BLL 0820-1000 x7
LO466 BLL-WAW 1035-1220 x7
LO467 WAW-BLL1730-1910 x6
LO468 BLL-WAW 1950-2135 x6

Quite a long diversion for Iberia's A332 (EC-MKI) tonight, as flight IB6889 from MAD to PVG diverted to HEL after having already reached Siberia.

MOW would have been much closer but as it's not the first time such a diversion occurs I'd like to ask why airlines tend to avoid diverting to Russian airports?

Maybe it's visa related? No such issue going from MAD to HEL.

Well that's probably the most obvious explanation (it was a bit of a stupid question in the first place). Apparently the situation wasn't that serious this time ("someone on Twitter" said it was due to fuel leakage), but PEK would have been almost as close as HEL.

I would think that it would be fixed at HEL faster than in PEK. Since AY has A330's with the same engines etc. So I would think that is one of the reasons to divert to HEL.

BRA will launch 6x weekly MMX-HEL from 16 April.

BRA already operates flights to HEL from BMA and UME in co-operation with Finnair.

Ny flyglinje ökar tillgängligheten till Skåne från Asien

Great news! MMX is one important destination missing from HEL.

Thank you for sharing information about the planes withdrawing from the fleet. I remember when SAS bought the 737-600 instead of the MD-95. Does not seem that long ago. :-)

OSL is closing in on CPH. Norwegian and SAS is increasing capacity at OSL.

CAAC on 13FEB18 posted Beijing Capital Airlines' application for Beijing – Helsinki route 3 times a week, from May 2018. However the airline continues to display 3 weekly from 22JUN18 in the GDS and OAG

Will this planned service be ever materialized?
