What is going on at PIE 12/17
Im sitting on my patio at at 1400L two G4 A320 from AVL(G41203) and FNT G4(4909) both did loops over Dunedin wear i live. I can't fathom why two flights landing to the south didnt just line up to runway 17 from the north. I tracked them on fr24. I have screenshots of the flights but have no idea how to post pictures in this forum.

The DARBS3 which both TPA and PIE (and SPG for that matter) both use, takes you right over Dunedin. The FNT flight isn’t surprising at all. AVL could have used DADE4, but given to going to PIE also probably chose DARBS3

Looks like they just changed runways, and the last departure to the north got off later than expected.

Still departing to the south. The planea circled and then still landed to the south

PIE landing/departing 35 until AAY1202 was just about ready to turn final for 17. It circled to make way for AAY844 departure. Second AAY arrival had to circle to follow 1202.

They switched landing directions. And by the way its RWY 18/36 now. They were landing on 36, then switched to 18.

I really they did loops, maybe a 360, but not a loop.

Thanks for the information. I just never seen them do that before especially back to back flights doing it. Wonder when they changed runway designator, i only visit PIE 3x a year when i fly G4 to AVL. Od only WN kept AVL afg we the merger i wouldn't have to.

I believe the change was on 2015 and it was due to magnetic compass shifting .1 of a degree every year.
If you look at this in the right corner it shows the annual rate of change. Tampa had the same shift the same year PIE changed.
