AF A380 tests new gate at ATL

Thu Dec 14, 2017 2:25 am

An AF A380 made a rare visit to ATL to test out the new double decker jetbridge. Will be interesting to see if AF begins A380 service to ATL!

This is all very misleading, the A380 was not here to test out the jet bridge, this has been scheduled for some time, along with the LH 744 that arrived yesterday. This was all due to the high demand from a large medical convention that is currently in ATL. It was a rare visit by the A380, but again it wasn't here to test out a jet bridge, that would be a very expensive test.

Maybe QR could have used that gate perhaps lol.

Does KE still fly the A380 to ATL?

Last time I looked, KE was a 77W.

1. By curiosity, which medical convention?
2. Yes it may be expensive, but how else are you going to test a custom A380 gate without an A380? Lol :rotfl:

This was pulled. I do not think DL liked the KE A380 in ATL. It went away and then suddenly we had the JV agreement.

I'd say the disappearance of the KE 388 was more closely correlated with increased frequency on the route than with anything JV related.

which gate did the AF a380 use on this route? I flew through ATL yesterday but did not see it. (Although I did see a C series and the A350 there for DL investors day). For normal operations when AF sends their 77W is this a bird equipped with the BEST business class and First class or does it still have the angle lie flat seats? I thought going through ATL the other day I saw an AF 772 or was i mistaken?

Two flights a day. The gate was F3. The other flight on that day was the normal B777. Not sure if it was a 772 or 77W.
