Well done Heathrow. Liked the retro themes and "human" story.

I don't get it. Does this video imply that BA permits unescorted Bear families to fly on their aircraft ? :rotfl:

Yes but the option of an emotional support human is available too. As long as no other bears are allergic... ;-)

Looks like the ramp scenes were filmed at the Imperial War Museum in Duxford. It's a pretty interesting place to visit if you have the time.

Is it just me or do some of the dates shown clash with uniforms worn by the cabin crew. BA Negus era ended in 1984/5, screen shows 1987... Pedantry I know.

Is there anything the British love more than nostalgia. Maybe, emotional manipulation by for profit companies?

Don`t like the Brits, their companies, or both? Don`t hold back, say what you really think, this is the forum for it........

I like both fine. But let’s be frank. When companies create ads like these, it’s for cynical reasons. They only do it because it’s effective in creating strong brand likability. It’s used to the extreme in the UK. By banks, insurance companies and across lots of industries.

It seems an effective way to make money. Good strategy by Heathrow and other companies.

Businesses are there to make money & provide a service those that don`t fall by the wayside very quickly.
Banks, insurance companies, industries, even Heathrow will do all they can to be attractive to their customers, it`s good
practice, & importantly, it`s what makes the world go around. Business keeps people employed, without them, we`re all stuffed.

Can British companies take the moral high ground with regard business ethics? Of course not. Are they worse than any of the
other major competing nations? I`d argue they aren`t.

Nice video Heathrow, if it brings in more punters, your job is done. Love the VC10 too!

I agree. I was there a couple of years back. Viscount, Britannia, Comet, Trident, VC-10... amongst many other beauties. Heaven!

The modern-day scene forgot to include the part where the bear gets lost inside a massive shopping area, trying to desperately to find the exit or even a place to sit down.

Love the VC-10.

As somebody else has observed; these scenes were almost certainly filmed at IWM Duxford. And here's the funny thing; on a recent thread I complained that Google Street View censores the view from the roads surrounding Heathrow airport. Either nobody understood what I was saying or nobody cares.

So, imagine my utter surprise when I pulled up a satellite image of Duxford, and when I asked for street view options - it allowed me right on to the private roads within Duxford Museum itself.

So, if you want to see the BOAC VC-10, together with the BEA Trident and the Monarch Britannia, as they sit for real on the concrete at Duxford, just as they are in the advert, go to....

52°05'35" N, 0°07'44" E, and then select Street View.

(Yes, I know each of these aircraft can be found many times over on the a.net database, but this gives a group shot, and it kinda feels like you are actually there.)

And furthermore to my pedantry ... What was a Monarch flight doing at "Heathrow" ? Ok, ok I'll get my jacket ! ;-)

So I guess a commercial for LHR that you would to see is a bear in jeans and a shirt met by eight larger bears in 3 piece suits smoking cigars who take his wallet, android device, notebook PC, clothes, luggage, passport, and haul his family to debtor's prison in front of him because he used the airport, since that is how you think capitalism really works (as opposed to other economic systems). Nothing but reality based commercials for you. :santahat:

I thought it was a beautiful commercial. I quite liked it. What's that got to do with what I said.

A for profit company taking the risk of producing an advert designed to create a net profit? Disgusting behaviour. I shall be writing to my MP.
