Norwegian Air Shuttle (UK) ops

Mon Nov 20, 2017 2:41 pm

Getting a little confused. At Gatwick, there's a based fleet of Irish registered D8 B737-800s flying to sun destinations under the "Nortrans" callsign, so far so good, that's their EU entity, just like G- for EZY or EI- fror FR.

Why do they have one single B737 on the UK register yet flying with D8 under "Nortrans" and registered to Norwegian Air UK? I thought it was a paper company until I noticed that the LGW-SIN route also operates under this AOC but with a DI flight code and a "Rednose" callsign. The rest of the LGW based long haul fleet is US bound and calls "Norshuttle" under a DY flight code. They do seem to mix and match G- and LN- B787-9s as well.

"Rednose" is slightly funny, it's much better associated with Rudolph or Comic Relief IMHO.
Sooooo, is the intention to have all of the G- 787s operating under one AOC, callsign and IATA code?
