Sun Oct 29, 2017 11:12 pm

Just wondering if all the southwest stations have the new style self kiosks?

Maybe. I don't know if all airports do have. Last Saturday, I went Midway and Dallas Love I noticed in ticketing area. I think it's so cool. It is quicker for less line and wait.

It makes things better, that is for sure. I have noticed at a few airports everyone goes to the self check and then the normal lines are empty, so I use them instead.

ROC should be getting them within the next few weeks from what I've heard, but not as of now. Smaller stations are always the last for everything.

I forgot to mention. I went to Austin last month. AUS has one Kiosks there, too.

Looks like WN is moving in the direction of AS and putting them in nearly all of their stations, even smaller ones, although a lot of their bigger ones are missing from that list...but if they are still rebranding some counters it may be a part of those updates. UA/AA (and maybe DL) seem to only be putting them in the hubs and larger line stations.

Definitely not a new thing at many airports.

Problem is, once you tag your bags, you still have to wait in line to drop your bags

I noticed them on Saturday at BOS. The ticketing agent looked a bit bored waiting for customers to bring up their bags. B6 has them at BOS too but it's a much larger station for them. I think it's cool that WN is implementing them at smaller stations. Makes them feel less left-behind I suppose

No luck here in PBI - just the old-fashioned kiosks and, well, um, humans.

I just tweeted Southwest Airlines to please add Self Tagging / Kiosks at all the airports they serve. Ask them to do the same for your city.

I'm not sure RIC has them or will get them any time soon. When you only have 3 daily flights to ATL chances are you're probably not too high on WN's priority list.

Is there a plan to rollout - auto bag drops (ABDs) at any ports for WN or any other airlines?

Slight Segway - can I ask why at LAX, and maybe at other US airports, the agent has to lift the bags from the scales to the Baggage belt? I noticed this for all airlines at LAX. Doesn’t this present manual handling danger? Made Checkin look very in efficient!

I think this is correct. Now that all of the large (>80 flights/day) have them IINM, I think a lot of the rollout timing has to do with airport-specific issues rather than moving strictly in descending size order. For instance, I suspect MSY will hold out with agent tagging until they move to the new terminal even though the station is larger than many others that do have self-tagging. There may also be some airports with very narrow ticketing halls where floor space is an issue. But, there are plenty of stations in the 10-15 flights/day range that have them (ALB, DTW, MHT, etc.)

There are some pictures of the new Southwest Airlines kiosks at CVG posted on the Internet, but CVG has the new SWA kiosks because Southwest just started service out of CVG back on June 4th.

I'm surprised SMF has them. I thought everything was common use there and that most of the kiosks were on the counter?
