No sign of any blood marks or feathers say this probably wasn't a bird strike. What was the weather conditions enroute?

A drone?

The article said it occurred while on descent.

Probably the speed of the plane kept it clean, & cleaner still if it had been raining.
Can`t think it`d be anything other than a bird strike really.

Well, this is what DL gets for moving into SeaTac on top of our local AS and flying around the stolen Seattle SuperSonics. /s

That's N650DL, one of the special 72-seat NBA 757's.

That's not major damage. It's a ray dome dent. They are flimsy by design because they must be transparent to various forms of radio waves.

Actually, DL said it was "likely" a bird strike, which means the spokesman was making an EWAG.

I suspect the players taking the pictures didn't know, as we do, that the radome is made of different stuff than the aluminum skin, and that even puncturing the radome doesn't mean punturing the pressure vessel of the plane.. This is why other players could tweet that there was nothing "extreme or out of the ordinary" during the flight. Translation: nobody in the back knew that it happened until they saw the deformed radome once on the ground.
