a good opportunity to spot if all the traffic is landing on the south side during this time.

It isn't. 24L is just in mixed mode.

Not that it matters, as the 25s still get tons of interesting traffic in their own right.

oh well. it would have been great to have non-stop traffic on the one side to boost the overall numbers one could get in a single day, LAX is always worth a 2-day visit, One for each North/South complex to get the full variety

I landed this morning on a Delta flight from MSP and we were ground held on the taxiway on the way to our gate just due to heavy traffic from the South side coming up the alley to take off from 24L.

I monitor north tower atc almost all day as I work from home and close to LAX. Arrival traffic is about the same, I'm sure they're sending some departures over to the south side to avoid delays and go arounds. Speaking of go arounds, I've seen quite a few in the last few days due to this mixed use of 24L. Although I have to say, the controllers do a damn good job expediting takeoffs and clearing the runway after landing.
