Oh gee another 4+ minute long safety video! These look nice on Youtube but on actual flights about a minute or two in, even the few passengers who do pay attention to safety videos (a vast majority do not) lose focus and start looking elsewhere.

I fly Virgin America once a month at least, and that stupid long music video they have gives me nightmares now. On every single flight I have seen people start watching it, and halfway through start fiddling with their phones or whatever.

I dont get it. What is the point with safety videos like these? During the last few years many carriers have gone to ridiculous lengths in trying to make "cool" safety videos. After a few flights it is all just annoying. Give me a clean and short video without any visual effects, annoying music and bad jokes.

Pretty much the case with every single safety demonstration these days, manual or video. In fact, it's unusual for a passenger to pay attention at all!

I think its fine.. its not annoying like the Virgin America one. It presents all the required information without being too kitschy. People just love to hate.

Not as creative as the other two but I enjoyed. I think people will pay attention these much more than the regular ones, even if they are longer... so if that is true, than they are effective and that is the point...

They still have that same video?! I guess when you pay for a Broadway production, you have to get your money's worth...

Actually I thought that was a nice touch. Him and Ed over at Delta (and Gary of course at WN) are class acts, unlike Dougie "DUI" Parker over at AA that is holier than thou and barely shows his face because he thinks he's better than everyone.

The Llama with the IATA code for Lima on it was a nice touch.

I like it. Anything that attracts the attention of the passenger. I did notice a bit of a production issue. If you look closely at the drummer in the "German" band he isn't really hitting the drum and not quite on beat as well.

I like the various world music renditions of Rhapsody in Blue. It's a nice way for UA to highlight their global network.

I feel like the FA ripping the green screen was actually a blooper that they decided to leave in.

Lots of Easter eggs in there. The kangaroo from previous videos made a super-quick appearance. The mother in the NYC race had bib "787" while her baby had "737".

I think United did a good job, despite it being a little long. Demonstrates that they aim to be a global airline, that they are trying to be diverse with the use of employees of different ethnic backgrounds, and still has cute Easter eggs. To me it seems that they are trying to satisfy customers of all backgrounds with this video. The small details count. I kept noticing that they intentionally cover the type of aircraft whenever they show the safety card so it works for the whole fleet :rotfl:

Yes they do, and when you have to watch that on a 6am flight, it is sensory overload. No Virgin, when I have not even had my first cup of coffee, I am NOT for TONIGHT GET READY TO FLY... WE'RE GONNA LIVE IT UP IN THE SKY!!! :redflag: :whiteflag: :redflag:

Delta had great videos for a little while. I tended to watch the whole thing. The recent ones are dull.

Is it too much to ask for for Houston to get a cameo in one of the videos? Hell, it wasn't even featured for 3PD in Hemispheres in February for the Super Bowl.

There was an ad about three years ago that at least had a nod to Texas with the icehouse scene at the end.

I find Doug to be quite engaging, easy to talk to and pretty darn available.....he is also one of the only CEO's I have ever met who often travels alone, sits in coach regularly and does not allow others to carry his bags. He is a really nice and down to earth person just like Brad at AS and Richard as I remember him at NW. You can't be the leader of these companies without people skills. The attacks on CEO's are really unsettling.....most of these folks are really good people with families who very much care for the welfare of their employees. Parker is now the longest serving airline CEO in the US and should be credited with saving many thousands of jobs....mine included.

On the video....I like it. Its different. This may sound funny, but these videos are more for the employees than the passengers. It generates pride in the company and is relatable.

On that note, I still remember the music from the NW video when I was there in 2000-2005...I loved the background music :)

Now it's officially a trilogy, like Star Wars, of which one of them got a Wilhelm scream.

Do they have a uniform? Almost every FA is wearing something different? Guys and girls all seem different.

The video was long, but that's how long it takes to go over all of the mandated items. If you notice, they didn't have very much filler in the video.

Overall, nicely done.

This is pretty pedestrian. You can't beat those Air NZ ones. The new QF one, along with the somewhat similar-looking SIA one, are a far better job.

I would prefer a safety demo by the FAs. These safety videos with the annoying music is annoying, hence the word I said just now.

I remember back in the 1970s, some study showed that people didn't pay attention to F/As doing the safety demonstrations. Someone got the idea of making the safety demonstration into a video, because people will watch any sort of film presentation, whether on a movie screen or a TV screen.

I think the FAA and airlines agree that if people watch the safety demonstration, they will be more likely to get out of an airplane safely, if there is some sort of incident. So, airlines have gone to the trouble of making videos entertaining, in order to capture the attention of passengers.

Good catch. Also ORD and EWR on the bibs.

Not a bad video. I've seen worse.

That being said, please let me travel with the Australian FA :stirthepot: :cloudnine:

It is ok. Not bad. It is still better than the awful new BA video. But nothing beats Air France!

Ehhh, I'm not a big fan. I enjoyed the "Safety is Global" theme the first go around but it's just getting drawn out now. The video itself seems clunky and cluttered in my opinion, but to each their own!

They should just play the part from Sully, "Brace, brace, brace, Heads down stay down" I bet that would get everyones attention.

I like it! You know about a third of the people aren't paying attention though... and you can always spot them lugging a carry on during an evac lol

Whew, what a relief! I am just about to board a United fight now and THRILLED I won't have to endure the last version they had for way too long. I used to look away and stick my fingers in my hears and sing "la, la, la" until it was over!
I like this new one. It does a good job of reinforcing United's global network which is virtually unmatched and one of the biggest feathers in their cap, so they have earned their right to chest pound over it. Funny that they have such a grand opening in Rio when they only have one nonstop a day from IAH. (Although the connection through GRU to SDU is very convenient) and yes, the Aussie FA seems like a very nice guy!
