DL flew SJC-CVG once for a short time. I forget the year.

DL operated CVG-SJC in 2000-2001, it was cut after 9/11. DL already operates CVG-SFO, no need for SJC (DL does not even fly to SJC from DTW).

Sure, no need for SJC except for the 1.5 million people who live closer to SJC than SFO.

???, DL does not even operate CVG-SEA year-round, let alone trying to operate CVG-SJC. As far as F9 goes, it looks like they are merely shifting most of their traffic from SFO to SJC. Hopefully the flight does better this time around since it will not be competing directly with UA and DL on CVG-SFO.

Anyone know how many gates are available (open) at SJC?

Maybe six months ago, someone posted that some gates in terminal A were "dark" (unused). I don't know if that's still the case, maybe someone can fill us in. But they are building two more gates onto terminal B.

Apparently MCO-ISP is working well, because they're upping the flight to 2x daily, both A321. I had no idea ISP had that much support for MCO.

ISP-MIA goes to 2 x daIly as well, second week in October. Image

Well I suppose it's a matter of time until there's 2x RSW and 2x TPA, could probably see them doing JAX next. I know in their F9 announcement hinted at a DEN flight in the future too. Wouldn't be surprised if ISP goes up to 20+ daily flights in the future if they remain successful.

I'd love to see that happen! They recently announced their spring 2018 schedule here, and I hope they do great.

The only common use gates in Terminal A are 1 and 3. The new ground boarding gate 7A will likely be used to bus passengers to most F9 flights at SJC.

That's IF Islip can prove to be successful, which you can hope it is. There could be a surprise if F9 expands westward to DEN, PHX and AUS or there won't and ISP will keep FL service, I'm excited to see how it pans out.

Are SJC gates so full that they will need remote stands and busses? Where did you get the info?

I work at SJC. We've been getting the new gate area ready for several months while we waited to see if we were actually going to need it. Turns out with F9 announcing all that it did, we probably will.

Ah, ok. Your forum name threw me off (with PDX). ;)

Is that one of the gates that faces the terminal road, or does it face the runways?

7A "faces" the public terminal roadway (east), but it's behind the perimeter wall so you can't really see it from there. It's on the lower level of Terminal A+. The main challenge now seems to be obtaining ADA-compliant boarding ramps.

And alas, yes, not up in the northwest anymore but hopefully someday.
