Avianca Brazil to start GRU-JFK service

Sat Sep 16, 2017 9:31 pm

Starting from December 17th, Avianca Brazil (O6) will become the fifth airline operating in the Sao Paulo - New York segment (besides JJ, AA and DL to/from JFK, and UA to/from EWR) with daily frequencies and using A330-200 aircraft. I'm impressed of the growth O6 is going through this year, with the deliveries of their first A332 and the new GRU-SCL and GRU-MIA routes. There's the link below (in Portuguese):

Wonder if AD is still thinking about JFK or they've completely dropped the idea.

Either way great for O6!

Perhaps this will force LATAM to reduce service back do daily.

What does Avianca bring to the route ? AA, Delta and United have huge FF bases in New York and Brazil, AV only at the Brazilian end. AV is a distant third in the Brazilian market after GOL & Azul. German Efromovich is empire building, does he have the money to play in this Ocean with Latam and the US3 ?

I assume they are trying to pull off of the UA base a bit, but cheap fares and specials will help.
Also, they are in fourth in Brasil. You forgot JJ. LATAM, GOL, Azul, y Avianca Brasil.
