Looks like the tug took the brunt of the damage. The planes wing tip hit the top of the tug.

RJ incident at CLT

Wed Sep 13, 2017 8:58 pm

Anyone know what’s going on at CLT? Some type of emergency incident on the regional ramp over at concourse E. Have seen a few different things on Twitter. A groundstop is now in effect for all AA regional jet traffic that would normally park at E.

Multiple reports now that a plane hit a tug on taxi and driver has been taken to hospital.

Is there a presumption of fault... as in tug driver ignored ramper who walked the plane?

General policy is aircraft always has right of way. E-con in CLT can get a bit crazy at times though.

Agreed... presumption of fault points to tug driver.... probably distracted.... and out of a job.

The tug driver was driving beside the plane as it was taxiing in a turned right in front the wing. She was wearing ear buds. Meaning she was probably distracted by the music.
