I'm scheduled to fly on a B767-400 DEN-ATL on 12/23. Is this a one off or are these birds making normal rounds on domestic duty for a week or two? When would they start? Any other routes with one-off's or other International birds flying domestic duty around the holidays? Thanks!

Peace :box:

DL is running a bunch of limited time only domestic widebody flights around Christmas to cater for added demand. The full list is too long too list but will be part of the daily updates. ATL-DEN is certainly one of those. There will be widebody ATL-DEN flights between 12/21-1/1, sometimes even twice a day.

B772 N702DN getting ready to fly ATL-MSY, not sure what flight it is, just showing under the reg number.

Edit:
Local news says power outage at ATL and flights halted so guess the 777 is to help with lift.

DL loaded its initial W18/19 schedule into the GPS. Many changes in equipment but nothing meaningful on the route front (changes/additions in S18 carryover to W18/19). Most changes relate to (a) continued deliveries of 359s and (b) restructuring of 763ER fleet (HJ-to-LJ conversion).

Summary for changes (Nov '17 -> Nov '18) - only changes are shown not full schedule:

763 (domestic):
+ SLC-HNL
- nothing
763ER-high J:
+ SEA-CDG
- ATL-BRU/DUS/LHR(2)/SCL, CVG-CDG, DTW-LHR(1), JFK-LHR(3)/SFO(1)/ZRH, SLC-CDG
763ER-low J:
+ ATL-BRU/DUS/SCL/STR, CVG-CDG, IND-CDG, JFK-SFO(1), MCO-AMS, SLC-CDG
- EWR-AMS, JFK-LAX(1), NRT-PVG
332:
+ ATL-LHR(1), DTW-LHR(1), JFK-LHR(2)/LOS/ZRH
- ATL-CDG(1), DTW-PEK, SEA-CDG/HKG
764:
+ ATL-EZE, JFK-LAX(2)
- ATL-CDG(1.5)/GIG/LAX(1)/MCO/STR
772:
+ SEA-HKG
- ATL-AMS(1)/ICN, MSP-AMS(1)
77L:
+ ATL-PVG
- ATL-LAX(1), DTW-PVG, LAX-PVG
333:
+ ATL-AMS(1)/CDG(2.5)/GIG/LHR(1), LAX-AMS/CDG, MSP-AMS(1)
- ATL-EZE/LAX(1)/SLC-HNL, DTW-AMS(1), JFK-LAX(1)
359:
+ ATL-ICN, DTW-AMS(1)/PEK/PVG, LAX-PVG
- none
744:
+ none
- DTW-ICN

Take this with a grain of salt. Things will change. Schedules only uploaded until end of Nov '18 for now.

And it's game over for N669US, landed at MJZ an hour and 45 minutes ago. 3 remain now remain in the fleet, and the widebody fleet count drops back to 148.

2 747-400s are supposed to leave tomorrow to MJZ. And that leaving N674US left that will be doing charters before withdrawing it on 1/2/2018. Once the 2 pairs retire, the widebody fleet will drop to 147.

I also wonder, have they begun to scrap some of these birds yet or they are just sitting around?

Slight mistake here, this should be 150, not 148.

6304 was already being torn up when I visited Pinal Saturday. The top of the fuselage where the internet bubble was housed had a big chunk taken out of it.

The remaining parked planes are across the field in long-term storage. Several of the 744's are leased so I don't know their status. Delta's owned birds are set to be parted out.

I understand they were planning on taking the economy seats from 6304 for the upcoming 763ER-high J --> 763ER-low J conversion program. A number of economy seats needed for that program.

Would make sense. The 747-451 seats are barely 5 years old & akin to the current narrow body Y seats on 757 reconfigs.

Does the DL 744 have the same exact model of seats as in the 763?

**** N666US (744) has been retired from service. Flew from LAX to MZJ on 12/26 ****
**** N670US (744) has been retired from service. Flew from SEA to MZJ on 12/26 ****

The 744 fleet is down to its final plane (N674US), flying some NFL & NCAA charters until retired on 1/3.

Apparently you can’t see because DTW is all over the upgrades list.

Could someone on here start a thread, similar to the threads about narrowbody deliveries and refurbishments, tracking the 777 retrofits that will start this Spring?
