There are rules how Slots are allocated and the handling contracts and landing fees are subject to individual contracts between iindependent private companies, The state sets the rules and makes sure the rules are followed but does not get involved otherwise. The companies concerned can handle that all quite well without state intervention
as the Dispute between Fraport and LH proved. And finally, there are Grandfather rights", best Translation for that are "Besitzstände.
How do you break up monopolies without state intervention?
Isn't there a state role in ensuring competition?
The answer is 'yes' but of course we see here it is inoperative, much to the benefit of the 'national champion'.
Instead of looking for state intervention, LH apologists speak of an 'unwanted monopoly' as if it's some terrible thing.
Poor LH, how will they cope with the terrible monopoly they've been angling for over the last year or more?
All it took for this terrible monopoly to be thrust upon LH was the insertion of the ex-LH CEO into AB, the deal for AB to fly for LH in preparation for the pre-arranged fall, Angie's trip to Abu Dhabi to sort things out, the loan from the government slush fund to keep the operating certificates in place while LH cherry picked the best pieces, and all kinds of grease being applied to the skids in politics and media.
In other words, all is in order in Merkel Land. Move along, nothing to see here...
