A passenger's battery/power bank caught fire when it fell beneath a seat on LH440 FRA-IAH flight last week.
Luckily nobody was harmed and the fire was extinguished by the crew.

Do you press the "call button" or shout "FIRE" at the top of your lungs. As it was under the seat I guess that the owner was not the person who spotted it.
you don't get a second chance to make a first impression!

It is scary. Unfortunately, those incidents are likely to increase, given more and more devices with batteries on travellers.

Imagine the US had it's way of banning note books from the cabin. Thank God this stupiddirective was avoided. Cabin Crews are trained to extinguish battery fires.

Can the title be edited to make it clear it is a passenger battery?

I'd imagine that damage (some, at least) was caused ;)

I believe Qantas has had two such instances - do seat designs need to be reviewed to better protect the mechanisms from foreign articles falling in? Let's be honest despite PAs and comments in the safety demo not to move your seat - most pax won't listen or think they know better.
