I don't think a Airbus has the capability of making SNA-MIA.

Flyguy

They dropped CVG-LAX, so that would make a lot of sense.

They still have A319s with some A319NEOs on order. That aircraft, as well as 73G and 752 can make SNA to east coast work.

And A320s are flown LAX-CVG so they can easily make it

It has been speculated that they are opening a hub at CVG so my guess is all three of these will get Nonstops to CVG

I understand that to be likely according to the Rest of Ohio thread, but even with connections it will be hard for these routes to work.

Although, there are a lot of routes that F9 could move from seasonal to year round out of CVG...plus CVG-AUS/MIA/PDX seem like they are possibilities

MKE officials want a MIA nonstop so that makes sense as a certain one of the eight. They've got only seasonal to FLL I believe on WN though Allegiant recently announced FLL-MKE though I am not sure that is year-round or seasonal. ALmost certainly sub daily.

PDX is not leaving. It's a good market, has great loads, and has been a long time city for F9.

I am excited to hear BUF!!! The fares are insane into BUF. I was pricing fares a few months ago and was shocked at how high they were.

I have not been able to find it either, someone else said it was listed on a secondary page on their website. GRR/OKC have had the announcement teased by their respective airport boards.

Apparently ABQ/RNO/ONT/PSP/OKC/BUF/GRR were listed on F9's website this morning but have since been removed. Besides this list, I am hearing SJC is being added as well.

What I've noticed is that AA has aggressively price matched the ULCC carriers to their hubs. It would make sense that F9 would launch 5 routes to MIA that are currently unserved because they can have the market to themselves. The question is whether AA would feel inclined to throw a couple competing regional jets in these new markets that F9 will be launching?

They have 18 A319NEOs on order, which was 20 originally. And we're talking about SNA-MIA, not LAX-CVG. LAX runways are twice as long as SNA. The A320 CEO or NEO would be heavily weight restricted to fly anything over 3 hours from SNA, IMO.

It's in the OAG thread. There are a ton of routes ending Oct 3/Oct 4. Some "seasonally" I'm sure, but they were previously bookable through end of schedule nonetheless.

Lot's of East-West flying (CVGLAX, GSODEN, PITLAS, DTWPHX off the top of my head) and some of the more unusual non-leisure market flying like MSPCVG, TTNRDU, PHLAUS.

Probably AA would just fare match BUF/MKE-CLT-MIA to some extent, than offer regional jet service to match a 1100+ mile route against F9. If BUF comes onboard, it would make sense also for a BUF-DFW but it's NK that is large on the DFW side.

What I don't get is that many of these cities are not the stereotypical warm weather destinations that F9 flips the schedule towards in the winter. AUS, MCI, BUF, OKC, SJC? Unless all of these new winter routes are AUS/MCI/BUF/OKC - Florida, PUJ, CUN, SJU, Mexico?

I would love to see Frontier try BTV-Florida. Spirit and Allegiant are very happy in Plattsburgh right across the lake, so they wont retaliate. The legacies and jetblue all go for the connection approach

I lived and grew up in VT until moving to TPA 6 years ago. Always craved for more BTV service.

I agree though, F9; BTV-MCO/TPA and a winter DEN flight would work.

G4 and NK do well with PBG, F9 can be the matching factor on the BTV side of Lake Champlain.

This would be more a freebie in new route count, as it's more a change of airport situation, TTN-FLL to TTN-MIA. But still, the other new routes into MIA will make this interesting tomorrow.

haha SPELL CHECK corrected that one. I fixed it but you were too fast :cool2:

I really do think Frontier could make BTV work. The market to Florida is large but they could totally create more demand with a affordable non-stop and publicity. The local media would eat a new carrier up and offer tons of free publicity.

SNA has the advantage of being a west coast airport and all flights travel east with the prevailing winds. CO used to do SNA-EWR non-stop.

Frontier is my favorite airline. Been flying them since 1994. Seen a lot of change but have also stuck with them through it. This is mostly because I'm in Denver and they are my hometown airline.

Really hoping this announcement doesn't include cuts at DEN.

They are starting to show up.

Miami is getting Cincinnati (3w), Cleveland (3w), Detroit (4w), Milwaukee (daily), Providence (daily), San Juan (daily, and a redeye!) among current Frontier stations, and New York-LaGuardia (daily) is resuming as well (not sure if that counts as "new" or "resumed").

So then assume one or two of the new stations also get a Miami flight - maybe Buffalo and Oklahoma City.

Finally Milwaukee and Providence get MIA service after AA has ignored them for so long.

And looks like Frontier will pull out of Fort Lauderdale.

The dates now say "Booking through 04/07/2018", no new routes are up yet, but should be soon :-).

They are starting to show up.

Miami is getting Cincinnati (3w), Cleveland (3w), Detroit (4w), Milwaukee (daily)

Finally Milwaukee and Providence get MIA service after AA has ignored them for so long.

Looking at some random dates I pulled up on F9's web-site, MKE-MIA operating as F9 flight 1511 departs at 8:13pm and arrives 10:33pm. MIA-MKE operating as F9 flight 1508 departs 6:29am and arrives in MKE at 11:05am.

I'd post the screenshot, but I can't per upload reqirements.

MIA/FLL-OKC 62 PDEW
MIA/FLL-GRR 35 PDEW

Higher PDEW cities could be served from MIA

I do see PDX service in mid-November, as well as SNA-DEN and SJC-DEN service. So that's 2 cities that are definitely not dropped plus one NEW city. That's all I've found so far.

And A320s are flown LAX-CVG so they can easily make it

They have 18 A319NEOs on order, which was 20 originally. And we're talking about SNA-MIA, not LAX-CVG. LAX runways are twice as long as SNA. The A320 CEO or NEO would be heavily weight restricted to fly anything over 3 hours from SNA, IMO.

SNA has the advantage of being a west coast airport and all flights travel east with the prevailing winds. CO used to do SNA-EWR non-stop.

CO sure did operate it with a 73G and UA still operates it with a 73G.
DL operates SNA-ATL with a 757-200.
UA operates SNA-ORD with an a320 and 73G, AA is 738.
SNA-IAH is a mix of 738, 73G and A320.
SNA-DFW is all 738.
It's 3.5 hours SNA-ORD, both DFW and IAH are just a hare under 3 hours and all can be done on just about any 737 or A320 family aircraft without a significant weight restriction.

Atl is 4 hours and DL does it with a 752 so they can take as many people in one trip without a weight restriction, and UA does EWR in 5 hours with a 73G, which they could use a 752 or A319 if they wanted.
Like I said, F9 couldn't do MIA with anything more than an A319.
