Ditto the above, the B777 has been a terrific success, a top aircraft Boeing can be very proud of.

An amazing accomplishment for any wide body aircraft to achieve those kind of sales. Congrats to Boeing and UA. The 777 has truly been a revolutionary aircraft.

Did they ever add any artwork to the jet to signify it was the 1,500th 777?

Nothing visible outside.... yet anyway.. UA might add something during induction... or not. :scratchchin:
Aircraft was delivered on paper to UA some weeks ago, but still sitting at PAE waiting for space to open at SEA tech center.

I recall that initially it was a slow start with the 777, BA was on board to name one airline that purchased them. But 1500 planes, that is a lot. Just flew a 777 with Cathay on Friday, HKG - YVR.

Not that many widebodies managed to achieve 1,500 copies - only the 747 did and even then it took the queen far longer to achieve what its baby brother did in 20+ year.

Here's to more 777 plying the skies in the future!

And the 777 has proven itself to be quite durable. Just view the Asiana accident where the plane cartwheeled and held together. If it had split in that accident the results would have been far worse.

No question, this is a huge accomplishment for Boeing. I would have liked to have seen United do something special with the livery, but UA doesn't seem all that into special liveries these days.

Indeed. Very disappointed in UA for not doing so.

1500 777s! Incredible! It seems only a short time ago the 1000th, A6-EGO was delivered!

Here's to the next 1500 777s! The new Boeing Flagship isn't going anywhere!

Congratulations to the T7 team, Boeing and United. an impressive machine. I have been flying the 777-200ER, the 777-200LR and 777-300ER. They have always been a pleasure to fly on. My record time onboard an airplane is 14.5 hours in the sky onboard a 772LR

Its got something like 1,100 delivered to date with another 100 or so on order. Maybe the USAF will top up another 300 KC-46?

And of that 1500, about 1400 are still active. Only 25 have been scrapped/written off, although I am sure a number of the 80 someodd stored frames are done for.
Boeing is still a little short of orders to make 2000...

It's an amazing achievement by Boeing. Congratulations!

The 777 was introduced in 1995. That is about 68 delivered aircraft per year on average.

Only the A330 comes close to the success of the 777. Airbus has delivered 1360 A330s. Introduction of that frame was in 1995, that's about 60 delivered aircraft per year on average. If we include the A340-200/-300 (same fuselage, same FAL, different engines) that number increases to about 70 per year.

Both the A330 and the 777 will probably achieve 2000 delivered aircraft before their production lines are closed down.

Congratulations in a great huge way to both Boeing and United. It sure is was the airframe that earned it's very lucky 777 number!

I do really hope United does something- as both the launch customer, part designer and now the 1500 777, United can chest pound, and they should do it WITH Boeing. (Maybe something like a special trip around the world for me and my friends!

jokes aside: do something philanthropic with a plane full and of children

The 8,000th 737 features a graphic next to the entry door and an extra plaque on the top of the door frame next the the plaque with the manufacturing information. I would think this aircraft should get the same treatment.

I remember going down to Heathrow to see the first United one to visit, that was a long time ago and I was a lot younger and had more hair ;-)
Since then my records show that I have flown on 62 different 777s (4% of the fleet), the most I have flown on any one specific 777 airframe is twice.

Amazing with 1500 deliveries already ! I started following the 777 before it was launched and have flown on all 777 carriers that took direct delivery from Boeing, 53. I could never have imagined that they would sell so many 777s.

I have flown on 182 different frames during my 304 flights. I have flown 1 033 310 mi and 1 977:01h. Longest flight : EK DXB-LAX in 2009 at 16:08h and shortest flight CZ HKG-CAN (old airports) in 1997 at 0:21h.

I was invited by Boeing to the delivery ceremony of the 1000th 777 to Emirates and it was a great experience. Doesn't seem very long ago.

The 777 will pass the 747 in deliveries later this year it seems which is an amazing feat consider the much shorter time it has been in service.

Congratulations to United Airlines and Boeing!

Yeah I flew on this one! The graphic is visible next to the door as you say, so you can see it when you board through the jetbridge. Kind of awesome if you think about the sheer number of 737s out there, and getting to fly on the 8000th is quite a treat.

I'd love to fly this 1500th...

I do think UA should add some sort of a special sticker to this aircraft, it's the 1500th 777 delivered to the same airline who received the first 777.
At least do as LH did on the 1500th 747.

A ridiculous number for a widebody. The 777 is THE long haul airliner of choice now, and has been for over a decade. This is a big achievement for Boeing and testament to how well they designed and produced it. Here's to 2000!

Hey guys,
On my first ever overseas trip back in 1995 the highlight was snapping the perfect photo of my first ever 777 sighting: a battleship grey United 777 lifting off into the London fog at Heathrow, not long after landing there and before I had even spotted a BA 777 on the ground near me. It all seemed so surreal to a wide-eyed young Aussie ... The fog, a brand new aircraft type, my first overseas trip ...
And I remember a chalkboard at that hobby shop at Heathrow that was situated on the terminal roof. The chalkboard listed the flight numbers and times of all the 777 movements for BA and United for that day, and there were were only a handful as the type was so new!
interestingly, I made my first A330 sighting a little later that day: a 'Vacations Ireland' / Aer Lingus A330-300.
Cheers

Emirates had a large '1000th 777' on A6-EGO when it was the new bird, it would be nice to see something similar here.

Agreed. Even if they won't go with a scheme, they can at least add some graphics. Having been a launch customer of the type, along with being one of the largest operators, I would think they'd be one to champion the aircraft and its noteworthy milestone.

Congratulations to Boeing on what has been an exceptional aircraft! No matter what the future holds for the 777, it helped shape the way international travel has grown/formed worldwide. Hopefully UA apply at least a decal somewhere on the aircraft to commemorate such an awesome milestone. Absolutely love the 777!

Yes, United already took delivery of the aircraft on paper a few weeks ago. Their 77W deliveries have been delayed by a Zodiac backlog for their Polaris J class seating, along with needing open hangar space for induction at SFO. They've taken 14 aircraft in the span of about six months, so they've worked too quickly for Zodiac and United. Pretty impressive, actually!

The 767 didn't surpass the 757 till after the 757 line was closed. That was somewhere around 1,050 units.

The 777 should surpass the 747 in a few months.
