Original Republic airlines question

Mon Jul 03, 2017 7:04 pm

My mom and I flew republic just after I was born in march 1982, from Pasco, WA PSC. To MSP, (she thinks it could have been Seattle first). So my question is what did republic fly in PSC I Mar 1982?

I don't know exactly. Probably DC-9-30 or DC-9-50.

Hi int he web site Departed Flights there is an Augstt 1982 flight schedule. It shows Pasco-Seattle on flight 14 leaving Pasco at 6:01 am, and connecting in Seattle to Flight 70 non stop arriving in MSP at 12:30.

The Pasco Seattle routing was probably on a DC9-10 or a DC9-30 (but most likely the -10 due to the size of the station at PSC Tri Cities, and still carried the code RW (as Republic West, i.e. the Hughes Air West operation--while Republic bought Hughes in September 1980, the RC code only started applying starting in Jan 1983 when the full integration ocurred. The Seattle -MSP was most probably on a 727-200 as that was the primary Republic trunk liner..

Here is a link to a June 1982 route map.

I think Pasco by that time was an all jet station and the F27's were all gone by the time Republic took over Hughes Air West.

I don't think Republic ever moved Convair 580's out to Seattle, but maybe they did. I was bouncing around the Baltimore Minneapolis Green Bay Upper Michigan stations between 1980 and 1984 and most of my flights were a combination of DC9-10, DC9-30, 727-200 and a lot of Convair 580's from Green Bay up to CMX and MQT.usually with stops in ESC or IMT.

According to both the February 1, 1982 and June 1, 1982 OAGs, All Republic flights between Pasco and Seattle were on DC-9-30s and all Republic flights between Seattle and Minneapolis were on 727-200s. I would assume the March schedule would have been the same.
