Where will Hainan fly to in the US next?

Wed May 24, 2017 6:06 pm

Following their order for 13 more 787-9's, what new US cities do you guys think Hainan will fly to with the expansion of their Dreamliner fleet?

I'd hope they'd add 4 weekly frequencies to BOS-PVG, 3 weekly frequencies to ORD-PEK, 4 weekly frequencies to LAS-PEK, 5 weekly frequencies to LAX-CTU, 5 weekly frequencies to LAX-CSX, 5 weekly frequencies to LAX-CKG, 2 weekly frequencies to SJC-PEK, and 3 weekly frequencies to SEA-PVG to bring all of those up to daily service.

PDX has been rumoured for a while now...as has been said by others on this forum before, whoever gets in on PDX-China first is set.

Guys, there are no more frequencies for PEK/PVG-United States.

Hainan will expand secondary flying from LAX/NYC and maybe SFO/SEA. Nothing more until a new bilateral.

PEK-SAN would be a nice one.

Are there any remaining authorities on the Chinese side to operate flights between the U.S. and PEK/PVG/CAN?

Edit: my question was just answered a few posts up.

They don't fly to SFO.

So, what 'secondary' cities within China, can comfortably support U.S. service?

SZX-LAX, or SZX-SFO? SZX-JFK, or perhaps even SZX-EWR (and see if it deters UA).

CAN-SFO and CAN-LAX would run against CZ. Is there enough of a market there for both? CAN-JFK would be nice, but would require a partner at JFK to make that work well.

Someone with greater knowledge of the markets can provide more intelligent insight, and so in anticipation of that person/response - can HAK-U.S. work? I mean, seems odd to consider Hainan, and not actually discuss Hainan.

I think Detroit is a very good bet.

Are you the same one in another thread who keeps insisting there is no way in Hades that DL will ever start MSP-ICN? I'd say it is far more likely that DL starts MSP-ICN than HU starts flying to DTW.

HU cannot compete with CZ on their CAN routes due to China having a one route and one carrier policy.

They don't fly to SFO.

The poster is saying that they would add service to SFO from secondary Chinese cities given they are unable to fly PEK/PVG-SFO currently.

Os there any plans between the two countries to discuss new bilateral? Or when will the current bilateral need renewal?

What a shock!

Please research and note that there are no available Tier 1 cities available. Maybe there is a CTU or something we don't know about that DTW owns.

Please note that people in this forum are sick and tired of "DTW." Every stinking thread is a DTW take over. Moderators, please calm this down or call this Airliners.DTW.net. Other members, who else is sick of DTE taking over every thread?

I'm not being "disrespectful" and banned, but want the truth out.

You spew out DTW without knowing bilateral facts or economics. Please state why DTW is best? Can't be to great as BA doesn't fly there, VS quit, DL dropped HKG, and you can't get an ME3 or TK, but know AI will print $ on 3x daily DTW-BLR.

PDX is probably high on their list, SEA has been a successful route for some time now and the region can definitely use more direct flights to Asia.

Hainan has applied for Chengdu to New York...no word on when it may begin.

This person must have a few alter egos. Anything DTW or DL gets a response.

Fortunately, most on this forum know KLM617 as a teenage delinquent that has never been laid or a pathetic representation of the Wayne's World DTW honey.

This is the biggest DTW cheerleader, makes Kid Rick look like a fan of Windsor!

If you are as sick of this "DTW" threads as me, please let the moderators know. KLM617 must have pictures as this nonsense keeps being posted.

They just launched CKG (Chongquing) to LAX, perhaps enter SFO from the same market?
Doubt anyone would try to beat them to it.

Only a matter of time before Hainan or UA jump on CKG and SZX. I could see SZX on Hainan but probably a early morning arrival and departure before noon

It has applied for permission to fly to TIJ (instead of SAN) from Shanghai. They seem to be trying to capture both San Diego market as well as connecting Mexican passengers. Seems to be serious so far as already hiring a station manager at TIJ.

Is Hainan still interested in serving the TIJ Airport? That would be one way to add a flight to a US city (San Diego) without actually using a US route authority.

Flight starts Dec 2017 according to this:

https://twitter.com/Airlineroute/status/851608576694992896

I think you're right in that they are doing this specifically to target purely San Diego traffic. Their original plan was to fly all the way down to MEX via TIJ, but that is no longer the case and the flight ends in TIJ.

I think PDX-PVG would be better for them, given all the Nike traffic to Shanghai.

I think PHL-PEK would work well. The metro area has a large Chinese population, lots of university students, and no transpacific route currently exists. Since all NYC-PEK routes are taken, PHL could be a great alternative for the for Mid-Atlantic region.

Thank you very much for bringing that to my attention, and immensely so - for not being rude, or unkind in your response. There is so much to learn, and thank you for helping focus my view onto a more accurate path. With that said, I know understand how much harder it is for HU to consider routes, and the necessity of this thread becomes much more important.
