The IATA code for Ryanair as everyone knows is RY not RG, the United Arab Emirates airline Air Rotana has the RG code.
If and when posting please keep to the appropriate airline codes.

They will being selling tickets on Air Europa flights, along with connections to Ryanair flights in Europa.
r2rho wrote:What I wonder though what's in it for FR... they already have a massive presence in MAD and Spain, it's not like they need help to grow their market share... and helping UX rules out FR starting any long-haul of their own from MAD.
So this is just a codeshare?
This could be a big boost for MAD airport too, this will bring many more pax, how many flights FR has currently at MAD??
r2rho wrote:Yes, and I wonder if T1-T2-T3 can handle it... While not crowded, they are decently busy. And while perfect for your average European A320 flight, they are not really built for handling modern widebodies. If this works (and I have a feeling it will) and traffic picks up, will the terminals be able to cope?

I am sure FR is going to be analysing all the data they get from fhis partnership and it's going to be a very good testing exercise for the future plans of FR, I'd love to see UX increasing the long haul destinations.

T2 may be kind of busy at some moments of the day, but T1 certainly has loads of free space. Also, even if A and B gates in T1 are designed both for narrowbodies and widebodies, those in the South Pier (A gates) are often used by widebodies (A330, B757, B767, B787,...). If necessary, they could also give 24h operation to the baggage and passport control that goes directy to the South Pier as, currently, passengers going to A gates usually need to use the same checkpoint as those going to B and C gates.richardw wrote:Interlining at MAD between Ryanair and Air Europa flights has NOT been announced.
They actually announced it as a second phase of the agreement, to be implemented later this same year.migair54 wrote:What if Ryanair buys UX in the future to start the long haul operation?? There has been discussion about this in some Spanish forums. The Hidalgo family has been trying to sell Air Europa (and all the Globalia group) to Alisher Usmanov, Etihad, HNA and AF-KL, so some people see this movement as the first step for a sale of UX to FR.
FR could get a good bunch of 738s, 788s and 789s, but I don't know what would happen to E195s and ATR72 in UX's OVA sister airline.

MOL is quoted in the press conference as saying it will be something different, "code shares are old school". We'll see. Sounds like interlining to me.

A good solution would be to move Star (which has a small presence at MAD and negligible connections) to T4, freeing up more space. But MAD airport management is not known for thinking out of the box - it took years until they improved SkyTeam connections in T1-T2-T3 and stopped assigning UX the most far away runways.
So this "deal" is just a code share in disguise?
