Thu Apr 27, 2017 12:56 am

how much longer will this a/c be legal "noise-wise" in USA and/or rest of world

Any other 707's with the same ugly hush kits ?

Well, from the times I have seen it, the plane wasn't especially noisy.

Well, It is noisy when you are standing right in front of it when it is taxiing towards you, but then so are many other planes. But on takeoff, it wasn't that bad.

I wonder more about how long the plane will survive and what will happen to it when it is no longer needed. I hope someone will be able to sweep in and preserve the former EBM, just as EBA is also preserved.

From what has been posted earlier, N707JT is grounded, apparently due to corrosion, So passing noise restrictions is probably moot.

The previous topic here said that the corrosion was fixed:

Ugly hush kits? The hush kits on 707s are practically unnoticeable. Most hush kits are noticeable structures on the exhaust side of the engines. On the 707, they are a simple extension of the forward cowling and pylon and actually look like the aircraft's structure vs. most hush kits that look more "strapped on" (i.e. BAC-111, 727, GII/GIII, etc.).

As far as FAA noise regulations go, I doubt 707JT would be in trouble anytime soon. They only just banned stage II planes, and I believe that was only below 100 K pounds, so the 707 wouldn't even fall under that
