BOS Suburb May Ban Travel on UA Using Tax Funds

Tue Apr 25, 2017 9:21 pm

Cambridge, MA elected officials are seeking to ban City funded travel on United saying they do not represent city values. If this were to grow it would start to significantly cost UA.

Ah yes, the People's Republic of Cambridge.

I kid, it's actually one of my favorite places. It's also somewhere to the left of Karl Marx, ideologically. I don't think that this will catch on.

Oh for the love of...

Now the government can pick favorite vendors based on politics or friendships? Wouldn't that be a form of embezzlement?

Okay, so it looks like American will soon be added that list. Over time, the good employees of Cambridge will have to drive anywhere to attend their meetings. Brilliant.

It won't grow. If they were really about values they wouldn't travel by air at all because of the pollution it causes. This is just a feel good, high and mighty move.

High and mighty, based on two untaxed bastions of elitism and billionaires (in this case I mean MIT and Harvard). It's like there is a pattern developing...

Maybe they are just simply high.

Do Cambridge city values include resisting law enforcement?

seriously doubt Cambridge is flying much UA as their BOS flights are pretty much hub only.

What kind of air travel needs does a city like Cambridge possibly have? I imagine the vast majority of travel benefitting the city's interests is actually made by its largest employers (Harvard, MIT, various pharma/biotech companies), not city employees. Per usual, much ado about nothing from my neighbors on the north bank of the Charles.

No this wont spread , but It just shows how much of a nightmare this is for United. News is still showing that footage and covering anything related to United. This might be on the biggest image disasters ever for such a large company. It just wont end for them (Uniteds fault of a horrible CEO and leadership).

Not if it's picked on "values".

Before I read the article, I knew it was to be Cambridge or Somerville.

What they should really be worried about is the drug epidemic that has been plaguing them for the last few years.

Oh please would everyone just stop flying United so I can enjoy empty cabins until the airline goes bankrupt, and then it will be carved up by American and Delta. And then there will be less completion. This is truly the most pathetic story/rumor I have heard since Dr Dao usurped aviation boards - it's getting boring and doesn't speak well for Americans as a whole. 'We don't share their values' gimme a break this is America, land of the free. Though increasingly the land of whining and ignorance.
