EY to stop A380 to MEL

Mon Apr 24, 2017 11:28 pm

As of 29 OCT, EY 460/461 AUH-MEL-AUH will downgrade to a 77W.

This makers AUH the second city to lose EY A380 after BOM. What does this mean for EY?

Also worth noting EY's other flight into MEL EY462/463 will be downgraded from 77W to 2 class 789

Knock on effect due to the new rules relating on electronic devices? on flights from the Middle East to Australia?

Don't think it will be the end of the middle east downgrades, with New Zealand now saying it will be bring in simlair measures to the US.

Good question, especially as EY still have one more 380 to come.

Is it just me or does anyone else also feel that the OP should be rephrased?

I wonder if BOM will see the A380 again. The date is very close to EY's last scheduled A346 service out of BOM (Not sure what the exact date is). Their original A380 to BOM was a 14:30ish departure out of AUH which is probably not the best time to fill an A380 with O&D pax but the night departure around 10:30 will probably work out in that case.

I also wonder (and excuse my ignorance) if The Apartments are not working out as planned? I mean they are expensive as hell and once all the bloggers have written about their trip in the apartments, is there really a market for that kind of spend on a commercial flight?

I believe BOM was pulled for CDG

I wondered the same thing about the Apartments. Would be interesting to see any data that exists, if any, on actual revenue loads (leaving aside the bloggers and other non-rev (or non-standard-rev) pax).
