Maybe change some 777Xs into 787s

If my memory serves me right he said something similar about the 787 a while back, after the A350 was ordered. He also said during the show that every airline within the group has to be able to pay for its own metal. And while SN and OS make money, it probably isn't enough to pay for brand-new longhaul aircraft. SN, he said, will continue total buy used A330, and the CFO of OS said just a week ago that he likes the 777s performance at OS. Looks to me like more used 777. This would be a significant upgauge to the 767, but would simplify the small longhaul fleet at OS. Btw Carsten Spohr also said that he very much likes the performance of the A350 and that they may have ordered too few A350, but too many 777X, because the marked is shifting towards smaller aircraft. Swiss as well, with the B77Ws moving to LH proper to replace some A346s.

I don't think they would move the 77Ws to LH.Why would they with the A359s&777x replacing the A346s.

Make that ~ 4,100 nm.
Blotto wrote:The 787 might be right for OS but the LH group should try to reduce the number of AC types not add the one type they don't fly.
Polot wrote:The LH Group is a bit different from most airlines due to LH Technik. Obviously LH Technik likes experience in as many different types as possible as that increases their attractiveness in getting work from other airlines, which helps lessen the blow of having a more complicated fleet. LH Technik does not want to turn away 787/777 work (although I believe they already do both) just to focus exclusively on the A330neo/A350. They would like to do work on all 4 of those planes.

I highly doubt that LH fleet decisions are based on LHT needs and wishes. LHT has a strong position on its own. Qatar selected FRA as their first A350 destination basically because of LHT maintenance when no LH A350 was even built. They already seem to be able to offer 787 services (https://www.lufthansa-technik.com/de/787-services).
If LH orders the 787 its either because they feel they can make it work or they want to complete their AC type collection

That would be a 230t A330, the latest 242t A333 flies as far as 4500 nm.
Although the 787-10 is larger and can load more payload, it seems the A333 can fly further.
