Fri Apr 21, 2017 1:55 pm

First aircraft is being delivered to Wasaya which operate out to YQT to points in Northwestern Ontario.

I wonder how many of these will get done over time?

I also wonder whether this is a retired Jazz DH1?

Didn't Air Ontario have a quick conversion program for their Dash-8s where they could quickly remove tbe seats and carry cargo? I remember reading about that in the 1990s.

There are plenty of frames that Piedmont is parking. Should be going for a good price.

Only a few have much usable life. I went through the hours and cycles on them in another thread. Some had 60,000+ takeoffs.

The airframe will go to 80,000 cycles where most are then retired. There is an 80k check as part of a life extension that will take them to 120,000 cycles but it is costly. This is a rugged well designed airframe, the ones that have gone through the 80k check did so with no significant findings.

Well in Canada, the remote regionals that still operate Hawkers would be one.

If an 'old' DH1 still has 10-20k cycles left on it, that would probably take an airline like Wasaya +20 years to reach the 80k mark.
