From the end of the last thread ZK-OKM first refitted 77W went to SFO as its first flight back in service I front think there is any set pattern until atleast 3 maybe 4 are done and they go onto NZ1/2 daily around August from memory. The remaining aircraft will be done by October November.

A321's are going to be all Y I believe.

Was there anything special done on board for the last 767 flight?

According to flightaware QF DHC-8-315Q VH-SBW departed BNE for NLK at 1010 AEST today. Nothing on flightradar24 which is strange as the 27 Mar TSV-BNE flight was in the system.

JQ198 is op by a 788 today. Good to have a better trans Tasman product than the A320 from JQ. It arrived in AKL on time and left 3h late. Anyone know why?

The flight appears to have been cancelled as the flightaware details for BNE-NLK have been deleted. Yesterday's weather map had ex tropical cyclone 'Debbie' between BNE and NLK. That will be further south today, so maybe BNE-NLK today at about the same time.

Blaming it on JQ instead of AIAL when it arrived into AKL on time - what were you thinking?

Well don't think JQ owns any wide body stairs in AKL? and is there ground agent still and off-shot of Skycare? who probably doesn't have stairs for an 788 either, so they probably we're reliant on hired stairs for this flight.

Thanks for the micha photo, micha.

Same thing happened again today. VH-SBW showed up on flightaware as QLK2459 BNE-NLK 1010 AEST, but was later removed. Assume it's a weather related cancellation.

Pleasure! Here is another one - you'd need very looong legs to get the landing gear from that point, haha: http://www.airport-data.com/aircraft/ph ... 82812.html

I wonder if it will ever come to NZ then ;-)

Hi All - quick question about EK448/449 (Non-stop DXB-AKL). Does anyone know how many (if any) seats are blocked out on this service?

Cheers in advance!

Even less special stuff than the 737 retirement flight! There was a special 767 cupcake, a 767 retirement brochure and a special announcement. That was basically it. I might write a trip report, but if I do it will be a few months away since I'm about to head to Europe.

Then again the 737 had been serving NZ and NAC for much longer and in greater numbers than the 767. The 767 phase out was a lot longer and would have been done much earlier were it not for the 787 delays.

None. Typically they are using newer 575t versions with better weight, drag and fuel burn characteristics than the earlier versions.

Does anyone know what's happening with the biosecurity area at AKL?

As I did my best to hurry through at 0100 this morning, it occurred to me that it's had exactly the same "thank you for your patience while work is in progress" ambience for a good ten years now. Regardless of whether there's any queue; they first send you 50m on one side of a partition before sending you back the 50m down the other side. The signs segregating the lines based on passport type mean absolutely nothing; everyone is just processed at the same rate by the same people at the other end. It's a complete mess, and has been stagnant forever. What gives??

While I'm bitching, I've encountered an airbridge failure at Gate 16 twice in a month. So it's probably failed many other times recently as well. Not good enough AIAL.

That's what happens when you give out NZ passports like a lolly scramble to hundreds of thousands of immigrants (Chinese/Indians in particular). They just join the NZ citizens line and then hold it up because they have tried to bring in something prohibited then argue about it for an hour before finishing with those famous words "I speaka no Engrish".

I do wonder how the NZ/AU Passport lines for MPI are controlled? I've never had to show my passport at the MPI counter, for all they could know I could on an British Passport......

What AKL really needs to introduce is an NZ/AU express path, for those that are traveling on the Tasman with carry on only. Nothing worse than arriving back in midnight and being stuck in an 30minute line for MPI and all your have is an backpack from an quick overnight trip to SYD.

It flew two positioning flights to SYD and back, judging by the return flight number 6082

Looks like it substituted for the DHL 757 freighter. The flightradar24 record has it arriving and departing the SYD cargo terminal.

The 10 pallet positions of the 77E would suggest a cargo backlog that needed to be moved. The availability of 10 each way x 4 should have made a dent in it.

I think so. Yesterday's AKL-SYD HJ1 and SYD-AKL HJ2 didn't operate. Today VH-TCA went AKL-CHC as HJ91 and ended up outside the Air NZ hangar. https://www.flightradar24.com/data/aircraft/vh-tca

Perhaps it has a problem with pressurisation as it flew <10,000ft the whole way down to Christchurch.

few stories coming across on twitter from airlineroute - including,

ANA 777-300ER to operate Osaka Kansai - Auckland charter, 27APR17 from KIX, 01MAY17 from AKL - COULD THIS LEAD to a replacement for NZ?

KLM expands codeshare options to Auckland in NS17

Skyteam member KLM from late-May 2017 plans expand travel options to New Zealand, through new codeshare service with Korean Air on the latter’s Seoul Incheon – Auckland route.

KLMs KL-coded flight numbers will appear on this route from 31MAY17, currently available for reservation.

ANA were meant to have come to AKL from TYO, possibly HND, I certainly can't see them flying from a city outside of TYO to AKL, No idea who this charter is for but I wouldn't think it will have anything to do with ANA looking at KIX services.

A nice piece about HA services to NZ by the herald, hard to believe its been 4 years since they launched, they've allowed for some pretty decent growth in this market to occur with NZers travelling to Hawaii growing from 26,000 before they launched to 60,000 in 2016. Have carried around 120,000 since their launch. CEO states no additional frequencies likely in the near future even though they want to add more, this being due to increased competition which is understandable and the smart thing to do at this point.

In regards to the ANA charter, it could potentially have something to do with the Masters Games in AKL that run from April 21-30, Coincidentally Kansai/Osaka are the host city for the 2021 World Masters Games

I think they are currently quite happy with their arrangements with SQ via SIN.
If MH pulled out then certainly NZ would probably jump right in, but there isn't much to be gained competing against them currently.
Going forward if NZ can boost it's South America ops to 3 destinations then the network effect would come into play and KUL would certainly be on the cards (along with ICN, TPE, BKK and the paused MNL).

more information on NZ's choice of no J class on new A321's - but we knew it lol

Air New Zealand has chosen to go the all-economy route for its new Airbus A321neo and A320neo jets, which will take wing later this year.

The Star Alliance member has been steadily edging away from a commitment to business class on its new trans-Tasman fleet, which will replace the current A320 single-aisle jets which mainly fly its Australia-New Zealand routes.

From tip to tail the A320neo and A321neo jets will be fitted with a 'slimline' economy seat predictably finished in Kiwi black.

Also what is happening with the MNL route has it been official axed before even getting off the ground? seems now that all the 763's have gone they have spear capacity but nothing coming from Network planning, and with more 787's due later this year. wonder where the crystal ball is looking at lol.
