I had the opportunity to fly KA a few times in the last two weeks. On two occasions, the flight landed at night. Both flights were A333, one with the older seats, one with the newer.
Although they dimmed the cabin lights, it was only partial. Most lights were turned off but there was still a set of lights on in the ceiling above the isles (IIRC), leaving perhaps 20% of the light level - enough to see pretty well in the cabin.
I was always under the impression that the lights are turned off completely for safety reasons: something along the lines of allowing your eyes to adjust to the darkness in case of a crash landing/evacuation. You're supposed to be able to see the strip of lights on the floor to guide you out of the aircraft. Is this incorrect? Anyone know why they don't dimm the lights fully? I might be wrong but I don't remember CX doing this.
Thanks
