Norwegian Air UK seems to be getting approval soon for operations between UK and Argentina

A googletranslation of Clarin ( Argentinas largest newspaer ) article of march 20th:

Accompanied all the time by Ambassador Mark Kent , Minister Hands also materialized the signing of a new Memorandum updating the Air Services Agreement (ASA) - and there was another one signed in 1992 - that seeks to expand air frequencies to 21 weekly services between London and Buenos Aires . It is reported that seven more frequencies can be operated between cities other than London and Buenos Aires to continue federalising the connections of our country.

"In order to carry out the operation, the authorities of the United Kingdom, in accordance with the current legislation, proposed to the airline Norewgian Air UK to carry out the air services between both countries and Argentina accepted this designation. In this way, Norwegian joins British Airways as responsible for conducting the routes between both countries. Last week it was already reported that you can travel between Buenos and London with the "Low Cost" for 400 dollars.

I would have thought that the Argentinian authorities would have insisted that any new Air Services Agreement (ASA) attributing to an extra seven flights a week between the United Kingdom and Argentina would also involve Aerolineas Argentinas if and when they are ready to resume EZE to London flights, seems strange on the Argentinians behalf to assume these extra flights to Norwegian.

Norwegian Air may have a UK airline operating certificate but it is definitely not British as it's name suggests and it's blatantly obvious pure and simple its Norwegian and having a UK AOC doesn't change that especially to the average airline passenger.

Aerolineas Argentinas should be very carefull and wary of Norwegian entering their home market, if the Argentinan government want to expand airline capacity in the country they should be assisting their own airlines in succeeding in doing so otherwise there is going to be a full on air fares war and Aerolineas Argentinas will be the ones that will suffer the most because of it, considering there in not great shape financially in the long term this will only hurt them even more.

It was confirmed today that Norwegian will be formally requesting domestic and international route authorities next month. According to the plan that Norwegian presented to the local authorities, the airline plans to invest AR$ 30 billion/US$187MM,hire 1250 local staff and order up to 40 planes.

Norwegian is already established legally in Argentina.

I think people obsess too much about the brand name with Norwegian - I've never actually encountered a Scandinavian pilot or cabin crew in years of flying them , they're just like a UK airline at Gatwick

Whilst they have a base at LGW by no means are they a UK airline, lets be clear on that . Their roots are very much Scandinavian

They may be 'just like a UK airline at Gatwick' to you but with the titles NORWEGIAN emblazoned over their fuselages and with the colours of the Norwegian flag, to non aviation enthusiasts the average passenger will still associate the airline as being Norwegian regardless of the fact that there are no Scandinavian pilots or cabin crew.

A similar situation.

I work for Carnival UK an Anglo American cruise company listed on the London Stock Exchange and incorporating both the Cunard and P&O brand names that play heavily on their British traditions and values but the ships are foreign built and are Bermudian registered (flag of convenience although still a Red Ensign albeit a Bermudian one), the officers are on the whole are British and the crew are International mostly from Eastern Europe, India and the Philippines.

But the average passenger still think of those two iconic brands as 100% British, the name of a company says a lot about that company and with NORWEGIAN being such an obvious name people will always refer to it as being Norwegian regardless of the fact there are no Scandinavian flight and cabin crew and that the aircraft are under a UK AOC and British registered.

LGW-EZE? Both variants have the legs for it. Now, the 789 can fly further than the 788.

At 6,896 miles, LGW-EZE is a few miles shorter than FCO-EZE, where AR deploys the 242tn A332.

Well, they are getting 20 New Boeing 787-9's the next 18 months so, I'm guessing it will be the 9 version.

Dca jet, AR is still flying the A343 to BCN and FCO.
The 332 flew EZE FCO EZE only once as a trial.

It reverts to A332 242t in May, 6x w and then daily from June onwards. Between the trial and now, AR got a few more 242T delivered from Airbus, which will enable both MAD & FCO daily from EZE.

BCN will remain the only Europe station that will continue to see the A343.
