Last passenger 747-200s gone

Tue Mar 14, 2017 11:08 pm

Planespotters site does not list the two aircraft in Kabo Air current fleet anymore, they had not flown in quite a while, 742 is now only active as freighter in US, CIS, Iran, Pakistan and China besides US and Iranian Air Forces plus a test bed with Rolls Royce North America.

GE still has their original 741 testbed too. Apparently they kept it around because the FADEC on the new testbed 744 doesn't like higher thrust engines, so it'll be doing work for the GE9X program next.

It may be presidential but its with USAF, I think Iran also has one configured as such.

747-100 is not the same as a 742 visually yes but not any other way.

LOL. They actually scrapped one of their 742s a few years back, and recently sold the other one, after it sitting around for years since they bought it from NW.

They're "restarting FAA certification," because had they actually achieved it, the idiots who gave them money, errr...investors, might expect them to start flying.

The fact that the people in charge haven't been arrested yet is beyond me

Will Kalitta fly the -400 on their LAX-HNL route?

I assume you're talking about Kalitta's N793CK?

Sad day when it is retired. Such a beauty.

793 & 794CK are retiring? Why?

And doesn't IR have PAX 742?

Yes, a -400BCF will be assigned to the HNL run.

And yes, 793's the last one. 794 is already parked). The rumor is that the company has several more -400s on the way this year, in addition to the 767 acquisitions. No need to keep pouring money into keeping the -200s flying I suppose. Fleet renewal/expansion seems to be the priority now that the new pilot contract is in place.

I've always considered the short humps more aesthetically pleasing than the longer upper decks that began with the SUD -200s and the -300s.
