Apparently they're retiring the 75H and putting 75Es on the Hawaii routes and 75Ls on the Atlantic routes: http://viewfromthewing.boardingarea.com ... s-unhappy/.

With the recent cuts at JFK, the second daily flight to CDG and the daily flight to MAN, at least a couple of International 757s will be available to be reassigned on other routes. Because, although the 75H fleet is now being retired, the 75L fleet is not leaving anytime soon. I believe that JFK-MAD will be downgraded back to the 757, correct me if I'm wrong about that. I know BOS-CDG is seasonal, summer only.

I don't think that the 75Es are going anywhere, at least not in the near future. They have been flying TATL routes out of PHL to GLA, SNN and LIS and now they will be redeployed to PHX-Hawaii routes which the 75Hs have been doing. The 75Hs are the ones leaving the fleet. TATL routes out of PHL will be flown with LAA 757s, so that probably explains why there will be fewer 757 flights out of JFK.

I don't know the regs of the retired birds but I hope that this will give you the information you want:

https://www.planespotters.net/productio ... us=current

The 757 fleet is now down to less than 50. And I believe that by the beginning of 2018, 34 will remain in the fleet. 24 LAA 757s configured for international routes, and 10 ex-US 75Es to be scheduled on PHX-Hawaii routes. Correct me if I'm wrong.

There are only 24 757 LAA left in the fleet with international configuration according with the AA Fleet site :

https://sites.google.com/site/newameric ... ng-757-200

Amongst these 24:
• Eighteen (18) are 1999 to 2002 planes deliveries and already have a brand new interior.
• Four (4) are 2001/2002 planes with the old international interior that will be reconfigured before the end of the year
• And two (N692AA & N691AA) are 1993 planes but already have new interior

The other three 757 LAA (N181AN / N182AN / N679AN) left are 1999 delivery planes, but have the domestic configuration and the old livery. Maybe some of them will painted & reconfigure with the new international interior to substitute the older ones or to bring the international 757 fleet to 25.

If there's 24 75Ls, 10 75Hs, 6 75Es, and 3 75Ws, does that suggest AA will retire all the 75Hs and 75Ws for a fleet of only 30 a/c or will they use the 75Ws to fill in?

Are 200-207 or 935-942 being returned to the lessor?

Fun plane to fly on before the maintenance issues. The 757, 767, an MD80 were a part of AAs history (and TWs as well) for a long time. Soon we'll be predicting the final AA 757 and 767 routes!

Well, to be quite honest, the remaining 763's after the current purge (I hope) would have all been built between the late 90's and '03 - pretty much on par with the A320 fleet they inherited from US.

A few new deliveries!

737-800:

N346PR (3PR)

A321:

N910AU (910)

The next A321 delivery is N909AM, and will be the final A321ceo delivered to AA, putting the A321 fleet at 219!

The next narrowbody Airbus delivered will be AA's first A321neo in two years.

Well AA has 100 MAXs, soon 99, left for delivery. I think he meant the 738NGs only.

A minor quibble: 738 as an IATA type designator refers only to the 737-800. The 737 MAX 8 is referred to as the 7M8.

In addition to the five 738s, four 7M8s are scheduled to be delivered this year, then 20 per year after that until this order is complete. The first 7M8; N324RA / 3RA, is scheduled for delivery this month, and to enter service between MIA and LGA on November 29th, just after Thanksgiving.

According to aa.com, all MIA-LGA flights on Nov 29th are scheduled with 738 equipment. Some of them are A321s but I'm just talking about the ones that are 737s. So my question is:
Do they designate the 737-8MAX also as 738 like the current variant? Or maybe they haven't updated the schedules yet? So as of November of this year if you read 738 on the schedule, how will you know whether it's a 738 of the current generation or a MAX?

I know in Sabre the code is 7M8 for the max versus 738 for the older model. AA.com does not distinguish but if you look at the seat map the Max has 33 rows versus 30 with the 738. For reference the MIA-LGA flights that will operate with the Max are the flights that depart MIA at 07:05a, 12:25p and 4:35p.

Thank you. Now I know how to find out, all I have to do is open the seat map. The exit rows on the current 800 variant are Rows 14, and 15, on the Max variant they are Rows 16 and 17. That's another difference I found out, besides the one you mention about Row 33.

They have been ferrying them out there but apparently a few have also found new homes so those may not be going to ROW.

Has anyone heard an updated timeline on the 333 exit? From everything I've seen, the plan appears to be on indefinite hold with the 333s being used for domestic services now.

I also looked at the NG and MAX seat maps. On the NG, the Y cabin starts with row 7. On the MAX map, the Y cabin starts with row 8. It appears that on the MAX, AA put an extra row in Y ahead of the exit rows and another extra row aft of the exit rows.

Also, First Class on the MAX starts with Row 1 versus Row 3 on the NG.

That's a shame. The old livery is far better than the new one.

A lot of people, including me, disagree.

Well at the end of the day it's subjective. I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. Personally I find the old livery iconic.

I wonder how beautiful this scene should have looked:

Although I came to accept the new livery, the old one is a true classic, and very hard to forget about.

Wow. That is quite the striking image. Oddly enough, even though I love the old livery, I have to say this actually does not look as good as I would have thought. Yesterday at DFW there were about 10 MD80s and a single 738 in the clAAsic bare metal and, for the first time, the old scheme really looked dated. Guess it was in comparison next to a large number of newly painted aircraft. This image seems to highlight that. I guess for all things there is a season.

@brooklynchris13, I guess you're right, man. Although I was really proud of being an AAer that worked for the company for 15 years and still got to fly on the 72S in the glorious bare metal livery, I guess it's time to evolve, And you' re right too. Maybe the 77W wouldn't have looked as sharp as it is today in the new one. Albeit the tail might be a bit of a controversy, you can say AA finally arrived into the 21st century with new planes and a new image.

Who doesn't? It is a good livery, that's why it's lasted nearly half a century. It's timeless.
