It appears as if AA will be one of a very few airlines that will operate both the 787 and A350. Qatar does as well.

AF, BA, JL, EY, LATAM, it doesn't seem like just a few will operate a fleet with both types.

Glad to see repainting of the 738s is finally picking up... they were making good progress but then focus shifted (rightly) to getting the US fleet in the new colors. Wonder if we could expect to see the rest of the 738s in new paint by the end of the year?

All the US Air a/c are in new paint. Most if not all 319s now have the new seats sans IFE and MCE. 321s are iffy (some have new seat covers but old seats, most are totally untouched). 320s are completely untouched on the interior. Just a sticker covering the US logo on the F/Y divider.

Don't count on it. AA spent a metric shit ton of money to rebrand themselves. I don't see them throwing that all away less than a decade later. What DL did almost 20 years ago is completely irrelevant.

Absolutely not! There is a zero percent chance of that happening! The new AA livery is good for 30+ years, if the previous livery is any indicator!

YV 918FJ is in paint in ROW

YV 908FJ is in galley modifications in TUS. About 10 out of the 30 aircraft have had galley mods completed which remove the crew closet and replace it with a G3 galley holding 2 half carts and some storage.

personally I like the new AA scheme. It's grown on me. I dont see any reason to get rid of it now. It really looks better in person and as noted they spent a lot of money on their rebrand. I dont think the general public cares as much as a.net does.

Look at Air France. They have kept the same livery for over 30 years. They introduced their bar code scheme in the late 70s and has kept it since then, only a slight modification to the bar code scheme was applied a few years ago.

Lufthansa hasn't changed in now 25 years.

KLM has kept its blue top for now over 40 years but has modified its cheatline no less than twice, from a white and thick dark blue cheatline, to a thinner dark blue cheatline, and now are painting their planes with a curved thin cheatline.

Speaking of Delta, it will soon be ten years that they introduced their latest corporate livery.

Only time will tell when American will introduce a new corporate livery. I don't think they are even thinking about that now, because they still have in mind finishing repainting the last few US Airways planes as well as the last planes in the old silver AA livery. If airlines change livery too often, people won't appreciate anymore. I know it has been repeatedly said that the MD-80s won't be repainted but when I read the latest update on American's fleet plan in Wikipedia, there are rumors that the MD-80 final retirement has been postponed to summer of 2018 and now postponed even further to early 2019, as the original plan was end of 2017. So, although the chances are slim, it is not impossible that at least one MD-80 will get the current scheme.

Apologies if this was asked before, but with Air Canada getting rid of their metallic pearl light blue/green paint scheme due to costs and environmental issues, is American's new metallic paint scheme equally as expensive to do? I assume so as I found out that it took about 6 coats of paint to create that shade of AC blue. Given AA's complicated tail and its colours, will it be a matter of time before AA chooses a more subdued version of their current scheme?

I'm hoping one of the YV CRJ-900's gets a Mesa Airlines retro livery like the Piedmont Dash-8 that got the retro Piedmont livery, especially since the CRJ-900's will probably be around for awhile. Mesa actually did do a cream color retro livery on a CRJ-200 about 20 years ago when they were America West Express.

It seems surprising that JL would order the A350, but one must realize that JL has very low-density long-haul planes (their 787-8s have only 169 seats, their 787-9s have only 188 seats, and their 777-300ERs have only 244 seats). The 777-8 and 777-9 would be way too much plane for Japan Airlines, and the A350-1000s would likely replace the 777-300ERs (JL has the prototype).

There is slack in the schedule every winter, especially the widebodies, that is why their maintenance is scheduled for winter for the most part.

Repainting of the LUS fleet was completed some time ago. Nose 578 (N578UW) was the last aircraft delivered from the factory in US Airways colors and will remain so as a heritage jet.

I hope AA does the same with 3KG (N921NN), which was the last aircraft delivered from the factory in the old AA livery.

I thought that the 772 reconfiguration to the Super Diamond J seats began last July, with N783AN being the first.
What reconfiguration is N775AN receiving?

No it isn't. this one is coming back into the fleet temporarily for the busy summer period. basically, AA is one frame short because of the accident to N345AN last year which resulted in it being scrapped prematurely.
