Perhaps the most significant change - although travellers are unlikely to notice it - will be the abandonment of the network of invisible "roads" in the sky - the routes which all aircraft currently follow.

Hungary no longer has any airway structure. European Commission Regulation No. 716/2014 states that by 1 January 2022 all airspace above FL295 must be free route airspace. Some countries such as Hungary, Ireland, Slovenia, Slovakia, Macedonia and the majority of Austria have remove the whole of thier upper ATS route network. The UK has a small area of Free Route airspace, called the Scottish Direct Route Airspace with no ATS route network. Spain also has a tiny area of free route airspace around Santiago.

The Norwegians, Swedes, Finnish, Danish, Latvians and Estonians have also introduced Free Route Airspace but have also retained the existing upper ATS route structure. The Italians have an upper ATS route network up to FL335 and the Portuguese have an upper ATS route network between FL195 and FL245, above that there is no ATS route network in either country.
