New jetBlue Tail Design

Fri Feb 17, 2017 2:02 am

Hello All:

Came across this picture, and haven't seen anyone post it yet. I am pretty sure this may have something to do with their recent 17th anniversary.

That sir is a new tail fin.
They will roll out a new one every Feb in honor of their birthday.

That one is called high rise. It's a take on the skyline of NYC.

Look for some other things paint wise from JetBlue soon.

A new one every year? I like it! Any more hints on what to expect soon??

I wish the A321s had different designs instead of all having the Prism one.

I wonder if jetBlue will introduce a new livery with the introduction of the NEO?

JetBlue has done a wonderful job balancing the fun of different designs while bolstering their brand strength. It underscores for me how BA's "World Tails" could have worked had they executed in an entirely different way.

Agreed.

Also, does anyone miss the original tails? The first four were my favorites. I would have loved to see those on an A321. Just my two cents.

LOL, a real retro-blue? That actually sounds like a great idea! Apart from birthdays, does B6 any other celebrations to 'dress up' for?

The Stripes one is by far my favorite. It was so simple yet looked so great. It's a shame that I think there's only one left. All I see at FLL nowadays is Barcode, Blueberry or Tartan. I mean even so, it is way better than having one standard tail design like most other carriers, but still miss the diversity of the different tails from a few years ago seeing Stripes, Bubbles, Windowpane, Harlequin, Mosaic, Blueberry and Barcode all at the same time.

Caught it arriving Newark early this morning, on a ferry flight from JFK.

Stripes and Harlequin were my two favorites. Rajahdhani, I agree with you. A true retro blue would be one of those tails rather than a fictional scheme. I digress. Apologies.

If I remember correctly the Queen wasn't a fan of them.

Not bad! I really do like how they incorporate a different color besides a blue in their designs. The Barcode is one of my favorites.

That's what I thought!

Personally, Plaid is my favorite. I never have liked the Barcode.

They still have the original tails painted on a few 320s

Not sure about the Queen, but Margaret Thatcher was a very vocal opponent of the World Tails.

Queen Elizabeth is much too endowed with common sense and artistic taste to rant over the wonderful Utopia or World Tails.

Not so Baroness Thatcher who disdained "those awful things' and insisted that "we fly the flag." Tut, tut, it's hardly the flag.

You may be thinking of PM Margaret Thatcher who famously/infamously put her handkerchief over the tail of a scale model 747 on the floor of Parliament.

I don't recall HRH commenting

Quite certain there's still at least one of each of the original tail designs still out there.

Agree on the A321s- they could use some variation.
