Which flight are you talking about? OH-LWG flew to LHR, did it not?

I think that was an error. This morning flightradar24.com showed A350 (OH-LWG) on HEL-AGP route, but doesn't show it anymore. Not even on flight departure list of Helsinki Airport.

BA is also sending B767 twice daily from today and the rest of the autumn. BOTH BAW778 and BAW780 will be flown with B767.

Its probably because AY changes flight numbers today, so FR24 might have been confused a bit

Transportstyrelsen have granted NextJet a new operative license. https://www.transportstyrelsen.se/sv/Pr ... _hit.pos=1

A former mail terminal/industrial buildings at Arlanda caught fire today and smoke wandered out over runway 01R/19L which resulted in ARN only being able to use 01L/19R
The building is no longer in use and was already planned to be demolished.

When and if AY decides to expand in North America could a HEL-BOS seasonal service make sense for them to consider? Perhaps 3X or 4X weekly? I remember when they flew HEL-BOS for a few seasons with 757'S. I wished I took the opportunity to fly the route.

I have also thought HEL-BOS could work. In 2005, only 4,436 passengers flew on HEL-BOS route but I think AY could do better nowadays.

How about Fortaleza and Recife? There were around 10,000 passengers on HEL-Recife route and around 8,000 passengers on HEL-Fortaleza in 2005. It's much more than numbers on many routes that are served today (such as Cancún, Pula, Edinburgh and Istanbul (!!)). However, it has been 12 years since 2005. I have also thought that AY could connect Brazil and also Colombia, Venezuela etc. to North Eastern Asia. O/D traffic between South America and Finland is very little though. Finnair has also served Cartagena, Margarita and Panama in the last decade.

Tokyo-Haneda: Finnair's new Asian destination for 2019?

Finnair: Haneda absolutely necessary to capture more business demand, studying 5th Japan destination

Finnair CEO Pekka Vauramo, commenting on a potential fifth destination for the carrier in Japan, said Tokyo Haneda is absolutely necessary to capture more business demand (Travel Vision, 30-Oct-2017). He said "though we understand the difficult situation of slots, we lack Haneda". In terms of other cities, he said: "There are various possibilities, we will consider it from a multifaceted perspective, such as population, industry, network of our partner Japan Airlines".

The growth on HEL-NRT has been impressive: PAX on the route has increased in Jan-Sep 2017 by 48,673 passenger (+23.0%) compared to same period in 2016. In addition, the PAX on routes to PEK, PVG, ICN and SIN has increased significantly: all have increased by over 18,000 passengers in Jan-Sep 2017.

Finnair: Helsinki-Tokyo Narita LF increasing post frequency increase

Finnair CEO Pekka Vauramo said load factor on Helsinki-Tokyo Narita service has been increasing even after it increased frequency to 11 times weekly (Travel Vision, 30-Oct-2017). He said passenger demand ratio is close to 50:50 from Japan and Europe, compared to the current 65% Japan and 35% from Europe. As previously reported by CAPA, Finnair plans to increase frequency to twice dally between May-2018 and Oct-2018, operating with A350-900 aircraft.

Very much possible, AY used MD11 for charter flights too. Typically GOI got their 757 and later 321, via Dubai, Sharjah or similar..

Saw this headline of QR adding flights to CPH, ARN and OSL. The story is behind a paywall so I wasn't able to read it but QR's booking engine already shows the added frequencies from around Christmas time onwards.

ARN from 14 to 17 weekly
CPH from 14 to 16 weekly
OSL from 7 to 10 weekly

All flights operated by 787.

The added frequencies seem to be just until the end of January for ARN and CPH, and until March for OSL (if all flights have been uploaded and my quick searches were correct).

Doha – Oslo eff 22DEC17 Increase from 7 to 10 weekly
Doha – Stockholm Arlanda 28DEC17 – 31JAN18 Increase from 14 to 17 weekly

QR has added the third timetable for S18, so they might be planning the double daily also for the summer season in the future?

Finnair adds capacity to Manchester

Finnair will add more than 2700 seats between Manchester and Helsinki from December 2017 to March 2018. The capacity will increase by 12 percent, more than 2,700 seats, during the busy winter schedule in response to passenger demand. From December certain flights operated by Embraer aircraft will be flown on larger capacity Airbus A319 and A320 aircraft.

Might have to do with the strike Gate Gourmet at CPH has today. Several flights from CPH have flown without any catering at all. So maybe a stop at OSL to cater the flight.

Times of India wrote in its news "Finnair introduces direct flights to Goa":

The airline also plans to commence direct flights to China and Japan in the coming months.

Times of India

Does this mean Finnair will open new destinations in Japan and China in addition to Nanjing? Or does it mean those extra frequencies that AY will add to Tokyo-Narita next summer as well as the new service to Nanjing? There has been some news recently that Finnair is studying the fifth Japan destination, Sapporo and Haneda are under consideration at the moment.

SAS have published "its preliminary earnings for the 2016/2017 fiscal year. In conjunction with this, SAS is also announcing the outlook for 2017/2018.".

Preliminary earnings for 2016/2017

SAS operations performed as expected in the fourth quarter. During the quarter, the yield improved while load factor is lower year-on-year[1].
The implementation of the efficiency measures proceeded as planned during the quarter. Nonrecurring costs related to IT, employees, properties and
changed management of aircraft maintenance costs is expected to amount to about SEK 0.5 billion in the fourth quarter. Currency hedges and
the translation of balance-sheet items also had a negative impact on earnings of above SEK 0.2 billion.

Altogether, developments during the fourth quarter 2016/2017 indicate the following for the 2016/2017 fiscal year:

– Revenue of about SEK 42.5 (39.5) billion

– Income before tax: about SEK 1.7 (1.4) billion

– Income before tax and nonrecurring items: about SEK 1.9 (0.9) billion

– Financial preparedness: about 37% (41%)

Norwegian reports continued international growth and 14 per cent passenger increase in October

Norwegian once again carried more than three million passengers in a single month. More than 3.1 million passengers travelled with the company in October, an increase of 14 per cent compared to the same month last year. The strongest growth was on Norwegian’s intercontinental routes, which have increased the number of passengers by 56 per cent.

A total of 3,148,511 passengers chose to fly with Norwegian in October. This is 381,768 more passengers than the same period last year (14 per cent). TMP will be closed for a runway renovation in JUL-AUG next year, but BT and FR seemed to sell seats for the period. Hasn't Finavia informed them?

Ryanair will probably just start flying to Jyväskylä instead and call it Tammerfors…

Actually it's Tampere. Tammerfors is the Swedish name for Tampere.

I don't recall reading anything about this, but it seems that Norwegian started LGW-RVN flights already from the start of November this year instead of December like last winter season. Flights are also now 3x weekly instead of 2x. I guess they are doing okay?

WOW Air will start a daily KEF-JFK route in April 2018. They will also increase frequency on KEF-EWR from the current 7x weekly to 13x weekly. In total WOW Air will have 20 flights per week between Iceland and New York, almost tripling the current frequency.

And speaking of BT at TMP, they promised earlier to make TMP 7x weekly during winter but now it seems to be 5x weekly. :(

Talking about the city, both Tampere and Tammerfors are official in Finland. On airports, Finavia now uses the simple (English) versions like Helsinki Airport, instead of the old Helsinki-Vantaa/Helsingfors-Vanda.

Finnair Adds Capacity to Stockholm, Expands Cooperation With BRA

Finnair will add connections to Stockholm’s Bromma airport, and deepen its cooperation with the Swedish regional airline BRA.

With the new frequencies, Finnair adds capacity between Bromma and Helsinki by a total of 40%, offering up to 7 connections per day between both cities. The new connections to Stockholm’s conveniently located downtown airport further improve Finnair’s offering for the Swedish market, which is one of Finnair’s key markets. Finnair also flies to Stockholm Arlanda airport with up to 8 connections a day.

Starting from January 2018, BRA will operate an additional afternoon flight for Finnair from Bromma in Stockholm to Helsinki and back during the weekdays
