Finnair will add connections to Stockholm’s Bromma airport, and deepen its cooperation with the Swedish regional airline BRA.
With the new frequencies, Finnair adds capacity between Bromma and Helsinki by a total of 40%, offering up to 7 connections per day between both cities. The new connections to Stockholm’s conveniently located downtown airport further improve Finnair’s offering for the Swedish market, which is one of Finnair’s key markets. Finnair also flies to Stockholm Arlanda airport with up to 8 connections a day.
Starting from January 2018, BRA will operate an additional afternoon flight for Finnair from Bromma in Stockholm to Helsinki and back during the weekdays

Tristarsteve wrote:British Airways have no aircraft that can use Bromma today. The largest aircraft there are regional jets.
There is a strict noise policy, and a narrow runway that limits aircraft up to RJ100 size.

If these numbers would be same every month, HEL would hit 20 million already this year!

After Norwegian and Russian transport authorities met this week in Oslo, it is clear that Norwegian still has to fly by detour around the airspace in Siberia.
The negotiations were closed late Thursday afternoon, and SAS still has sole rights as a Scandinavian airline to fly over Russian airspace in Asia. Norwegian participated in the negotiations.
"We are disappointed that Norwegian authorities have not done more to ensure that a Norwegian company has the same rights as a Swedish to fly the fastest way to China, South Korea and Japan, and that new Norwegian jobs and value creation in the tourism sector are apparently no higher on the agenda, says Communications Manager Lasse Sandaker-Nielsen in Norwegian to DN.
SAS was also present as an observer during the negotiations, but referred to the Ministry for a comment.
Minister of Transport and Communications Ketil Solvik-Olsen (Frp) does not want to comment on the statements from Norwegian, Ministry of Transport and Communications announced Thursday. The negotiations between Russia and Scandinavia on a new aviation agreement are almost one year in overtime. It is Norway that has led the Scandinavian delegation in the negotiations.
Nami wrote:Something that struck my eye from the statistics though is that QR's added capacity so far hasn't been absorbed that well. In September there were 46% more seats but passenger numbers barely grew at all and last month's passenger figure corresponds to an average load factor of 72% for the whole month. Perhaps A320 is the right size aircraft for HEL.

Actually not quite, breaking 20 million would require the growth for this year to be around +16.5%. I remember reading earlier from Finavia that the average growth at European airports was around 9% during the first half of the year so no big surprises here..

Not really surprised by this, CPH is very popular for AY's Chinese passengers.

Is Air China also interested in launching flights to HEL?
In order to serve the increasing Japan flight frequencies and one of our key customer groups, we will establish a new group in Helsinki and are now recruiting new cabin crew members with Japanese language and cultural skills. The new Helsinki group will operate Finnair’s Nagoya and seasonal Japanese routes as well as certain European routes that are popular to our Japanese customers. We are planning on starting the first new courses in March 2018.

I guess this is something new, or has AY based other Asian crews in HEL before and/or used them on European flights?

Finnair will boost frequencies within its limited network in the region and plans to operate up to eight weekly flights from Helsinki to Dubrovnik, five weekly to Split, as well as two weekly services to Pula next summer. Furthermore, the airline will maintain its four weekly seasonal service to Ljubljana but says it is “carefully following” potential destinations in other countries in the region as competition from rival airlines continues to grow.
. . .
However, when Asian tour operators create more products for the former Yugoslav area we want to be their first choice of airline and then it will be very important to have multiple entry and exit points such as Belgrade for example.
