GROUND STOP DAL AND SUB CARRIERS TO DOMESTIC DESTINATIONS.
INTERNATIONAL FLIGHT ARE EXEMPT. THIS IS DUE TO AUTOMATION ISSUES
WITH DAL. UPDATE AT 0030Z.

Anybody know what the deal is?

Sounds like another systems snafu. 45 min across the board delay for starters is not good.

Seems like airlines are having a lot of IT issues lately. Maybe executives should invest some money on that rather then stock buybacks and dividends?

Stuck in ATL. They keep making announcements that no flights are leaving. Seems to be a total ground stop. Pretty amazing. Even the screens showing connections are down. The gate agents have very little info.

Looks like GS was just extended to 0130Z. I imagine a lot of IT managers are not having a good Sunday evening.

It must be bad. The website is essentially down. It's really strange to look at the ATL departures list and not see a DL flight for the past hour. Quiet times under the departure paths of DL hubs right now.

Sounds like a Deltamatic outage to me, then (open to correction here, of course). Amazing that we don't have any automation redundancy in this day and age. This is becoming far too common lately.

It appears they are back up but there is a lot of residual back-up since flights were in-bound/en-route and they couldn't get the departures out when the systems went down so they have many aircraft landing at the hubs without open gates.

what exactly is back up? The DL App is down, the DL website wont let you book a flight or do much of anything without it timing out...

Friend of mine is aboard a DL flight that arrived at ATL 2h35m ago, still hasn't been let off. This will start to get expensive for DL if they break the tarmac rule.

My guess, in all that has been posted, diversions were initiated to ease ramp congestion in ATL. FWIW, these were the only ones that I could find.

Since AA and DL no longer have an agreement to accept eachothers passengers during irrops and WN never did have an agreement (that I know of) is it possible that UA is experiencing the vast majority of a windfall in picking up stranded DL passengers on FIMs?

Fly Delta App still down. Website still down. Wont let you do anything.

With the August outage still fresh in peoples minds, this will be nothing short of a PR nightmare for Delta. You can essentially forget about all those cancel free days when something like this blows up in their face.

I for one cant wait to hear the spin Bastian puts on this outage. In times like this, the airline should be forced to refund the price of the ticket and either 1) give a Delta voucher or 2) an amex gift card.

Folks gotta be fed up, don't want to fly the airline anymore and would probably prefer to not get a lousy Delta travel voucher.

Last weekend in DEN, UA was pushing a lot of planes off of gates to make room for inbounds during the ACARS lapse.

I believe anything over 3 hours domestic is a maximum of $27,500/passenger...

The timing was pretty bad too since it went down right in the middle of the big early-evening banks at both DTW and ATL. They couldn't get the early-evening departure bank out and airplanes for the last bank of the evenings were already en-route leading to massive congestion of in-bounds arriving with no gates available.

WE finally took of from ATL at 11:15pm. So glad. The one thing that is really crazy is why they didn't use stairs and buses to get pax of the planes that needed gates. Also the AA section of T terminal was empty. Why couldn't DL have used those gates. Surely the gates can be used in emergencies by any airline
